I notice its recommended to get amps that are capable of 600WRMS per channel or 1200WRMS mono to run these Alpines.
I have been quoted $900 for a JL 500.1, $1500 for a JL 1000.1 and $1600 for an MTX 81000D, new stuff looks a little on the high side...!
Anyone here have any other sugestions for a suitable amp to give these Type R's the power recommended... they are in 1.5cu ft sealed boxes
Perhaps someone even has a suitable amp for sale...?

Well, i just purchased 2 of the 4ohm DVC Type R's. Havent actualy hooked em up yet. I have ordered 2 of the Jaycar 4x100's to run them, one per sub. Bridged they give 2x330W so each chanell will be wired to each voice coil giving 660W to each sub.
I will let you knwo how it goes when i get the amps. Hopefully will be soon.

Well for a jaycar vs. Lanzar comparison I was running a fully modded (caps,fets) 2x150 on 1 4+4 Alpine Type-R and got 139.5... added another Type-R and Lanzar amp and best score was 147.3db... so 3db for the double cone area that still leaves 4.8db to be accounted for along the way

go the Lanzar amp. they are always for sale on the b'board. I've got a Lanzar 1200D Vibe amp and it just pumps 2 of my Type R's (2ohm DVC series)

yeh, get the lanzar in the for sales section. the seller needs to upgrade his subs and needs the money LOL.

yea buy andu's amp, its $850 and will power those subs with 600wrms each. Veyr nice and cheap power too. It will flog those two 4x100 amps, and put less strain on your electrical system

How much were you looking at spending?
Those r's in a seal box can handle a fair amount of juice, a 2000D lanzar would suit it, or, an mtx 1000D if you can find one, both likely candidates, lanzar for value, mtx for name! However, not sure of the impendance to make them work on teh mtx tho

Upto $650.00 and thats cuttin fine...
I just bought a KAC-929 that was giving me 460WRMS to my JBL, now I have the 2 Alpines and Damn now need to change the Amp - proof of lack of planning...!
Not a huge loss tho as I will be putting the 929 in my girls car..
