I will be running a mrv-1505 soon and will more than likely move up to 2 subs and so was woundering how the 1505 goes for 2ohm bridged for burps?
I would be running it stereo for daily driving and only wire it up 2ohm for comps so can anyone tell me FROM EXPERENCE if these amps will handle it well.

it'll work. i did that with a pair of the 1507's... only went into protection once out of about 5 burps... probably went into protection cause i clipped it too much and the voltage was too low.

you are not going to blow to amp up if thats what you are worried about. i ran my ppi at 1ohm mono and just blew the fuses, no big deal
Advenjah
not worryed about blowing it up, just about building a set up for 2ohm and finding I need a dif amp to run it

what subs
Advenjah
was thinking about getting another db+ 10" so that at most comps I wont be up against yourself and Richie.
Depends what happens with comps next year.

i think richie is going single 12

I wouldn't recommend it for long term use, for burps 2 ohm is OK.

Rippedskin you were lucky to just blow the fuses in your PPI! Unfortunately they aren't always the first things to blow!

Advenjah
thanks for that Phil

1ohm mono on the ppi was for a burp only. lasted about 0.5seconds into the burp into the fuses went hahaha.

Hey, you aren't really trying until you start blowing things up!

LOL

this won't make sense but it is true !!

I run a 1507 in 2 ohm mono have for 2 or so years spl'd it made 145 db with 2 12's
never had a hassle except once when the sub blew and shorted out the amp then the amp needed fixing. ( Thanks Alpine for the speedy service )Apart from that blew many coils and never a hassle

i now run 2 1507's in 4 ohm mono and they get way hotter than it used to when 2 ohm mono.
like i said don't know why but it is true !!
the only real diff between 1505 and 1507 is the fan and as long as it doesn't get too hot shouldn't be a prob !!

I have a 1505 that i run a 1 ohm mono load on. Runs fine. You shouldnt have a prob in 2 ohm stereo.
Bodyjar
1 ohm mono?

He wants to run it at 2ohm mono, not 2 ohm stereo... a 1505 at 1ohm mono? are you sure?
Stwmcr
Yeah the 1505 has a low impedance switch for doing such jobs as running 2 x DVC Soundstream SPL 15's. It is ok for 2 ohm stereo and will easily do 2 ohm mono. The newer MRV 1507 (with cooling fan)does not, however have a low impedance switch.
Advenjah
The low impedence switch is for 1ohm stereo! not 1ohm mono!
But if it does it with no probs then all is fine I guess.
Not gonna run mine that low though.

One of my friends bought a 1505 as soon as they came out to run his subs 2ohm mono and it just kept crapping it's pants all the time. Apparently there was a fix you could do, send it back to Alpine or something if you wanted to load the amp down, because it was a known problem. He just ended up running the subs 4ohm stereo which kinda sucked but they cranked hard anyway.

So I wouldn't recommend that amp for 2ohm mono if you have a choice (despite what it says on the box) but you might still get away with it like many other people do.
