Damm, $1700 is cheap.
The only other amp that makes more power is a DD 9501 or Alphansonik PMA 1000HC or 1200D.

How does a Crossfire 2000D compare to a US Amps 2000X?
Walkinshaw
Jan 4 2003, 12:37 AM
Phil, im sure there are more amps than the three that you listed (and sell) that make more power than the Crosfire2000..
still for $1700, is damn cheap for the power!

Well... if it was between the crossfire or the 2000x... I'd get the 2000x. IMO a nice company that's been in the buisness for a long time and has produced many beefy amps. Not to mention the rartiy of having such an amp in Australia. Don't really care much that it is class A/B efficiency wise as you would probably be having to upgrade the electrical system to run the crossfire anyway. When you get to power levels that high the difference in volume via your ears would probably be negligible.
But hey that's me and if you are searching for outright SPL then the crossfire would most likely be a better option just because of its efficiency........

That 2000d is a hella nice Amp, and Crossfire started the whole 1000 watt D-class "thing" so thev'e been around a while.
2000d against the 2000x??, I dunno but you'd have to go the US amps surfboard I reckon, Big is beautiful.
Alphasonik??, aren't they Taiwanese???.

No, Korean just like the Crossfire.
Although to date I haven't had single problem, unlike Crosssfire.
US amps are still awesome, but without an Australian agent holding stock they aren't readily available. But at $2899 the 2000x makes a tonne of power into even 5 ohms, it totally destroyed everything else tested against in CA&E last year.
The information I have is that DD amps will the way to go in 2003. We're talking $1199 for 1500W, made in the USA.

well considering i have 5 crossfire amps in my van 3 x 1000ds and two other smaller ones i have never had a problem with them. But i guess its just how you treat your equipment to how long it lasts.

I sold Crossfire for many years, and used 4 CFA 1000Ds in Adam's 166dB Excel.
The CFAs had a problem caused by poor circuit board mounting, that allowed the legs of the toroidal transformer to ground out on the heatsink. Over 75% of the amps I sold came back after masssive failures that often destroyed sub voice coils.
The BMFs were slightly better, but I have in the last weeks had customers return a TEK 50.4 and BMF 1000D.
I haven't used the VR series, but I think they are a little expensive, given what else is on offer these days.
They do make good power and handle loads as low as 0.5 ohm for burps.

? How did you see the sound deadener on the floor??

I had a bit of a look, apart from console mods (allowed in SS, as long as the added console does not pass 2cu ft, afaik) the interior looked pretty stock. Have to ask the peeps who made it though. Of course, it didn't look like it had any of that special "European" sound deadening...

Jan 9 2003, 10:15 PM
Oh yeah, and I can't say for sure, but since the seats were out (can see where brackes were) as well as the console mod, maybe krase saw the SD underneath the floor through those exposed areas? *shrugs*
spoken to some1 who has seen it get built and said they just used SD and i will take his work i trust him unlike others

You accuse someone of cheating, and you don't know jack about the car? Why don't we go dragging up someone extreme plexi roof, etc. Until you, or a dB DRA judge has taken a look and called it ex (and the top dB Drag boys in Aus called it SS), why not leave it be.
Its running Fusion, Jonah Lomu or whatever subs, and 2 (2 others blew I heard) fusion amps.

If I was competing against you in street 1-2, and I had a battery hidden in the boot, would you not call that cheating? Same **** , competing in a different class than that which you qualify for, is cheating, and accusing someone of doing that, is accusing them of cheating.

Yes you would be cheating if you had a battery HIDDEN in the boot, but no where has Phil said they are cheating, all he said he was told that the car has mods in front of the A pillar, thus deming it to be in Extreme. Remember, Phil was TOLD!!!!

Ear bleeder, its simple, if you don't follow the rules, then it is cheating. If the car does not follow the rules of the class that it is competing in, then that is cheating.
Of course none of us are certified judges and very few of us have even seen the car in person, so anything we say is simply speculation.

I didn't go to final battle 2002 so didn't see that car, I was told the car had roof and floor mods.
I was asking if this was the case, hence the question mark (?)

I do know what defines cheating.
And Phil was only asking if what he got told was true, does the car have mods to the door and roof etc in front of the B pillar, making it a extreme car, He didn't say it had mods, he was asking, hence the ??????????

But back to the question ... either amp would do you fine so stop yappin and start spendin !!!

Well, since all the cars at nats were giving a look over, I'm guessing it was decided it complied with the rules.
