Can anyone (if its possible) give me an approximation of how much DB my sound system would be putting out?
Specs are as below. The subwoofer is in a sealed box, with the Woofer firing toward the rear od the car (in the boot)
The sub is recieving 1000W RMS @ 2 Ohm
Also, does anyone know where i can get it tested (to see exactly how much it is putting out)
Thanks

My Guess (and it is only a guess) is 135db (just pulled that number out of the air, so dont take it too seriously...)
just find someone with a handheld meter and give it a quick burp, wont be anything too huge i dont think.

Im guessing 135-140 dude..
I only say that coz my setup, as listed below, pulled 136.4db, in a sealed box..
With a 15, not a 12, and bout the same power to 1 sub, i sould guess the above.. Oh, and rear loading has an affect on the SPL in a sedan too..
Guestimates change, and arent solid until its tested..

Yea damo is about correct.
If you went with a big ported box filing your whole boot, you should get 140db quite easily

Hmmm about 300Db??? Why guess when you can have it measured at a Doran SPL day? They might even be able to measure it wuickly for you for a fee and if they aren't too busy?
So many variables affect your SPL score so there is really no point in trying to guess. If you want an approximation I'd suggest looking for people with the same car and close to the same setup that you have that have actually metered their system.

I would say 140db. My sub is rated at 1000wrms at two ohms, in an EA falcon and I got that much. Pretty much exactly the same size car and same setup

Ha who told you that your amp puts out 1000wrms at 2 ohms??? An unnamed store told me the same thing about that amp, that it puts out 1000wrms at 2 ohms, and it was barely moving my sub. Did some research and found out those JL's only put out 500wmrs @ 2 ohms, so I would be looking at around 137-138db now

Those sales people who gave you the idea that the JL 1/500 puts out 1000WRMS at 2ohms deserve a big kick in the nads! That's what the JL 1/1000 is for.
http://www.carsound.com/reviews/amps/jl_5001.htmlBut looking at those charts... seems like the amp will do 1000WRMs at 2ohms... at 10% Distortion. Not exactly what you would call good SQ at that point.

Hey they sold one to me aswell sayin that it'll do 1000wrms @ 2ohms, come home and hook it up and was runnin like sh!t!! Read up on it and found out they do 500wrms @ both 2 and 4 ohms??? Took it back the next day and exchanged it for a TV, as that was the ABSOLUTE best amp they had!

The amp runs at 4 Ohm
The sub is DVC.
Isnt it when you drop the Ohm, the RMS Output is doubled?
The Amp itself has 2x Speaker out connections. The way i have wired it is one for each voice coil. Doesnt that mean it is running at 2 Ohm therefore 2x 500Watts?
Im lost.

Some amps double when halving the load, some dont... The 500/1 doesnt...

The amp will only produce close to double the power, if it is designed to do it.. The JL audio amps are designed to put out the same amount of power regardless (within the rated impedance range)..
OKay, so can someone tell me just how much power my Sub is receiving? (RMS)
And also, how much power my subwoofer can handle? (RMS)
Thankyou.

the sub is rated at 1000WRMS,
the amp puts out ~620WRMS , at any impedance under 4 ohm, but it's only stable to 1.5ohm.
IIRC
Damn, you know, i think you are right!
For the first time, i had a look at the manual that came with the AMP, and it says 500W RMS from 1.5- 4 Ohm..
Well, anyone out there want to swap me for a 1/1000 JBL?? LOL
So, theoretically, i could put 2x 1/500 Mono Block Amps on one of these L7 subs. As in, one for each voice coil? THAT WOULD BE MAD!!!!!!

I'm running my pair of 12" L7's with 500wrms each daily and 1300-1400wrms each for burps.

yes yes do that, it will love you for it! Also make a big ported box for it.
