hey guys, im kinda new here
i been watching the forums for quite a while, however only juz joined recently
Got a Quick Question for ya's
im juz wondering on an approximate SPL for my car, i got a 83' Ford KB laser (yes its a POS ), a Hertz HS300 12" sub in the HBX30 box (the pre-constructed one from hertz). A Kicker KX600.4 amp bridged, Hertz HSK165 6" splits and the JVC KD-S785 (entry level mp3 deck) headunit
juz want an approximation at what sorta SPL i can look at getting for this setup
Thx heaps

EDIT: btw, here are the specs for my components

Andu is taking a stab at the fact that certain QLD people havent been able to match or better their scores measured in QLD when tested on NSW meters..

Well known fact some meters up here read higher than the official dB Drag meter. but we have also come to the conclusion, that the Maroochy Car Sound meter, reads approximately the same as the Doran Pro audio meter in Sydney. So scores posted on these meter's are our best chance at comparing...
Anyways, that box is a bandpass design, not sure on how its tuned though... if that laser is a hatch? i would guesstimate about 135-142dB...

I assume rear channels are bridged to the sub....
Possibly with that box and placement possibly 140ish

arh okies, kewls
well im hopeing that my system will be tuned well, as i am often at Custom Image at browns plains (this is where i bought all my stuff ) and i am hopeing they will tune it accordingly for me
and yes the rear channels will bridged for my sub, as i am not using any rear speakers for my setup
one other thing, does anyone from here go to the maroochy car sound SPL days (such as the one at the start of this month)?
EDIT: soz didnt know swearing was monitored , my bad hehe

somewhere between 120 and 150
nar im guessing it'll be somewhere between 135 and 132, mainly cus of the sub and power.
if you fed huge power into it u may get high 130's

ok, the custom image meter is the one that has caused problems in the past, it clearly reads higher then any other meter in the state and some members have claimed they hit this score using that meter and that how the whole thing about 'QLD meters are wrong etc' started...
if you really wanna know how loud your system is goto the test n tune night that we are holding in the next month. the meter used there will be 'real'
by the way, we (QLD CAA) had about a dozen cars enter the MCS sound off at the start of this month...

far out, thats a fair way off, so when dave does check the SPL my car will do, should i juz take 3-4dB off it?

if you take about 3db off his meter you will get scores similar to the MCS and northfield meter...
take about 5-6db off the score using dave's meter and then you'll be close to the GCCS meter that is being used for the test n tune...

well im still paying off the rest of the amp
then i gotta spend $300ish on security system, then gotta find another $100ish for wiring
so it wont be completled for another couple weeks upto a month. But then im sure i will have many questions and queries on how to make it sound even sweeter than it will
