ok.. i've often wondered a few things about enduro style...

1: why isnt it popular? i knwo it'd be hard to build a car with en electrical system to take it... but otherwise?

2: how do they score it? ie. is it ur highest reading in the 30 secs like with dbdrag but the rules say that you cant ahve any pauses, or is it you average score over the 30 seconds?

cheers

1. because its new...

2. It's the AVERAGE score over 30 seconds... if u pause during ur run, u will most probly lose!

not just that... loading down amps isn't stable... I know if I tried do burp my system for 30seconds at full noise that one of the following would most likely occur:

a. 0.5ohm load on D2 would drop its guts and smoke on anything more then a short burp

b. the large amount of power/clipping would toast my sub coils

c. all of the above

For Enduro you really need to know your system back to front, what power your subs can handle over time, what power level your amps can output relatively clip free to avoid excessive voice coil heat and know exactly how long your power supply can keep the system alive as you said.

I love it!

It's been around for a several years in the U.S., i've seen it run once at the Melb Autosalon in 2000 as a show/demo run, about 4 people entered I think.

In Australia there might only be enough interest at events to justify a one off run by however many competitiors want to try it, rather than a dedicated class.

But if it's offered as a demo run while I'm competing at an event, I'm keen to give it another go!

I think if you want to give it a run you have to resign yourself or be prepared to risk killing the system. Mine's been bashed for that long that it's a miracle the subs haven't died yet!

The U.S. also runs a DEATHMATCH section in the DBDRAG competition format - it's the average SPL over 5 Minutes!!!!

I'd like to see that!
