the pioneer 10" was put in a 2.6 cubic foot box with a single round 12" port that was 18mm long. the box was tuned roughly to 300hz.
anyway, i hooked her up to the d2, and played a couple of burps threw it at full volume. tried 65hz for 1.5sec, fairly loud, no smell. next i tried 40hz (lowest tone i had) for 1.5sec, FU#KEN LOUD! so loud it made me jump back a bit (box was just lying in the garage), and also the neighbour yelled at me. never used to yell at me when i was testing the shockers... so this must have been really loud. it was due to the sub xmaxing, and the noise it made for that 1.5sec must have been near the 1khz range cos it was loud. anyway, didn't wanna get in trouble so i just chucked the box in the back seat of my car to play some longer tones. not a bad little thing... i just hooked it up to play a continous note (i think it was 43hz) and it was fine, up until the 6sec mark... then i could smell something, kept on playing, started to make funny noise for the next few seconds, then went all quiet after that (but the cone was still moving), and after a few more seconds of the cone moving with not much sound it just stoped playing... so in total, the thing probably lasted about 10-15sec continous... damn i wish i had a meter when i burped it at 40hz for the first time, it was so bloody loud! unfortunately, there was no smoke!
after that, i decided to rip the sub apart. damn, pretty impressive, it had dual spiders and the spiders were tough, had to get a pen and put holes in it to rip it apart. anyway, here are pics of the sub being pulled apart.
