Hey everybody,

Alright I have purchased 2 Phoenix Gold Titanium 15" Subs, I am Powering them off a 1200.1 Tantrum amp giving each sub approx 750wrms each

I am wanting to build a ported enclosure, built into the base of my tyre well facing upwards, I want to break 150 easily (like mid 150s wuld be amazing but anything above 153 will be acceptable).

Can somebody advise me as to what size the ported box should be, also port length/shape etc would be great

I would like to keep a decent amount of quality to the sound, i dont want it to sound like a pig being raped. but obviously im not gonna win an sq comp with this amout of bass anywho, but yeah, u all know wat i mean, i gotta be able to listen to it easily

So any pointers/advise etc would be great, also how many coats of fibreglass should i use inside the box?

Thanks in advance,

James

BlackIce
Slot port, easier and stronger
18mm (atleast) MDF
1 layer fibreglass to seal any air leaks
If you wanna go spastic, 4 layers of 'glass would be tonnes strong enough
Try not having any right angles
hardon
Check this out:

Box Basics part 2

Very interesting indeed and it get's you thinking about what you will build - I'd referenced off it for myself!

Got any comprehensive T/S specs? Transfer function measurements with those subs in a sealed box in the wheel well? Wheel well and boot/hatch dimensions

How much SQ are you willing to trade for SPL?

To be honest, it won't be that easy to break 150 (on a calibrated meter.. not an unrealisticly high meter) with that setup, particularly if you want to listen to the subs at the same time.. Interchangeable ports may be a good idea, as well as testing to see what is loudest..
