EL lamps are devices that convert electrical energy to light. In electroluminescence, an electrical field is applied to a thin phosphor layer to produce light. Flexiglow™ Electroluminescent (EL) Lamps are flexible, flat, thin, and cold illumination sources that can be cut into shapes, used for backlighting, instrument panels, advertising signage, architectural accents, merchandising displays and special effects for movies, television, theatre, and theme parks.

Flexiglow EL Lamps are available in standard A5 (149 x 210mm), A4 (210 x 297mm), A3 (420 x 297mm) and A2 (600 x 400mm) sizes. These sizes can also be cut to specification. Larger sheets are also available on request only. Please check back with us if you would like some details.

When planning to use EL Lamps for you application, take advantage of our expertise for technical support and advice. We also welcome OEM requests and can manufacture both locally and offshore.

More info:
Flexiglow™ Electroluminescent (EL) Lamps are wafer thin panels that glow when current is applied.

These panels come in a standard A3, A4 and A5 sizes and can be custom cut to specification.

Using the approved Flexiglow™ Inverters you can now light up any area inside the car ranging from the boot, dash, seats or even the subwoofer box.

The EL Lamp comes laminated and ready connected. Most Inverters have a built in blink function.

Flexiglow™ EL Lamps uses a similar technology to Flexiglow Cable™. The light is produced from a thin phosphor coating.

The light produced is easy on the eyes and emits no heat. With these special characteristics you can produce incredible effects by backlighting logos or any internal feature in the car.

Ok, today we got in an A5 sheet (around $70) and a inverter (just incase anyone wants to know, i cant remember exact numbers but the EL sheets run on around 100V AC @ around 200hz. it actually wouldnt be that expensive to make your own inverter for the price)
Its made up as a sandwich type thing. conductor, insulator over it and another conductor over that. at the edges the layers are cut away so you can tape terminals on (hence you can cut it up aslong as you leave some of the original edge to place terminals)
Its about as thick as the transperancy stuff you get for printers. and is bendable (foldable too, but the edges of the fold cease to glow and never glow again).

The light it emits is very dim, almost like glow in the dark stuff. ive never had much experience with the cables but what ive seem they are a little bit brighter. can barely see the glow if there is any other light source around. in the dark it looks great though, Id say definate use for backlighting or cutting into a logo shape. but only if your gonna put it somewhere that there isnt going to be much light. Im not one for pale colors either, and thats all they have.

its easily wrecked too, if you fold it (or as we got it some arsehole had folded it in the packet) then the line where the fold is never glows. and we also had a blotch on our sheet with an airbubble that didnt glow. thats probably cos we got it from farnell though (they tend to be a bit bodgy)

pretty cool stuff...
sure as hell wouldnt pay that much for it myself though.
