Only two words can sum up the launch of CAAASCA's [CAAdB] competition at Sydney Autoexpo March 2003.
Complete Success!
There were many obstacles that needed to be overcome simply getting [CAAdB] off the ground as most of you know. Not only have we overcome these, [CAAdB] showed it will be the competition format of the future and proved to competitors we take it serious.
A total of 21 competitors entered our first event, and we are quite sure from the feedback all 21 were more than happy with the results.
The event showed some minor modifications to the rules that are required to ensure fair competition, and these will be addressed right away. The difference between [CAAdB] and other competition formats / rules, is [CAAdB] has been structured to satisfy the requirements of the Australian SPL community, and the rules can be adapted and modified accordingly to ensure this.
Competition was very fierce, and in general all cars were hitting high numbers. Doran Pro Audio customer's cars were out in force, and proved they have what it takes to set records in [CAAdB].
We look forward to seeing the Toyota Surf of Tony Doran hitting 160+ dB scores further down the track after some more development.
The event did go off without a hiccup, with the only downside being the time delays waiting for cars to enter the lanes when the drivers do not stay within the vicinity of their vehicles. One competitor was given a five minute warning after being announced, and unfortunately had to be eliminated after not showing. This will be the case from now on, and the rules will be modified to include this ruling.
To the competitors, thankyou very much for your support of CAAASCA [CAAdB], we hope you enjoyed the competition and are pleased with the results. We are only a new player to the competition curcuit, but we believe we ran an extremely successful event and are taking away with us as organisers great experience that will be put back into improving [CAAdB] even more!
See you at the next competition!

Well done Marc and Beth and Scott and all the rest of the gang!(you know who you are!!!)
I am disappointed I couldn't be there, but my thoughts were with you all!
Sounds like all the good efforts and long nights put in so far have paid off 10 fold and (I assume) there is still plenty of room to grow!!!
Excellent work guys, I'm sticking my chest out knowing that I'm part of CAA and (very soonly) a CAADB competitor too!

Was a great weekend apart from the long drive home, just a pity there wasnt more interstate members there competing.
Bring on enduro style
It was also good to see the judges checking all systems to make sure they are in the right class and not trying to cheat. i think its the first time i have seen a competition run so well.

it was my first event, so i don't have much basis of comparision, but i must say it did run very smoothly, although i did run late for one of my runs... sorry guys.
every one was sooper helpful and i appreciate Mr bob, macca and Andu lending me their CD's to play, otherwise i think i would have had to play one of the cd's i bought from the DJ stand at autoexpo.
also thanx to marc, shiny and the rest of the guys for bearing with my stoopid and many questions.
thumbs up CAA!

i very much enjoyed helping make the day's event 'happen'. i've (obviously) had little previous experience with dB comps, so this was a good learning experience for me, including seeing how all the software operated and learning about the pressure transducers ('mics').
was a great day, and the positive feedback is encouraging.
still, i ain't gonna cross to the dark side.

All I can say is that my feet STILL hurt!!!
What a great weekend, and what a wierd feeling not having my own car entered?!?
We got a whole heap of great feedback from the entrants, spectators and officials and from this we are going to continually improve upon a solid format! I had a great time helping out in the lanes and it gave me the perfect opportunity to get a up close and personal view of my future competition...
Keep the constructive criticism coming, because without 'your' feedback we cannot grow accordingly!!!
I have to say from thr point of view of a judge it was a very successful event and once again a HUGE thankyou to all those loyal CAA members who volunteered their time to help out in so many ways!!!
Let's hear it for the TEAM!!!!

For the most part Bones was I believe, and he did an excellent job. His accent added to the fantasy that we were competing at a world class level lmao But again awesome job.
