thats a pickle

well since it is stock there should be a clause for it.

but you could read it as no more than 100amp output. but with the RPM limit the alt will not make full power thus under the 100 amp limit in the rules

Also if u didn't tell no1 would of been the wiser u certain it isn't 100amp heeh

Lets just keep it between you and me KraSE.

HHmmmm........

I'm getting vibes here (you sneaky peoples)....

If I can test my alternator and find the RPM where it doesn't exceed 100amp output, even though it's 120 amps?????

Or change the pulley size??

Or rewind the stock alternator so it's output is significantly higher, but appears totally stock to look at???

HHmmm......

I think I might check my cache.....

bassmekanik
hmmm dodgey basterds
well thats the problem there is no way to see if it has been rewound larger.

I can get a 500amp alt in a gm style case. so looks not to out of place.

it is a hard one to police.

Me thinks that the judges at events are not NAZI's (or SADDAM...) they are just trying to be fair and give ALL competitors a fair go.

I think if people are deliberately and knowingly breaking the rules, then that's no good.

If an alternator's rating is above 100 Amps and u simply wind back the revs to restict output, that's still breaking the rules by having an alt that's still over 100 Amps, regardless of what it's output is at XXX RPM.

If there is something shifty going on regarding breaking the rules, than that's a sh1tty thing to do.

But if u guys are just doing a secretive part of the install to see if it works, then good luck and blow us all away!!!!

I agree should not break the rules. But he isn't he has a stock 110 amp alt it is not his fault.

I am not building anything with Team US Amps. I am from WA her is from NSW.

I am also not in Stock class so no problems with me running a different alt. I was mearly pointing out that it is very hard to police alts.

But a 100amp alt and 110 alt both at "idle" limit in the lanes will have small difference if at all. I know it is in the rules 100amp but he has a stock alt. so he has to change alts to run in Stock class. thats just not right IMO

Yeah...ur right Krase.

If the car comes STOCK with a 110 Amp alt, let it run coz that's stock class and that's the way the car is by default.

Maybe contact Marc and clarify before any events where issues could cause problems!
