Hey,

With stock A it says you are limited to one battery, but is the battery tray allowed to be modified to fit a bigger battery? I ask this because I can hardly fit anything into my stock tray, it's tiny

Thanks.

to my knowledge i think you can remove the battery tray if you want...

Can you remove it and make a larger one so your battery doesn't slide away?

the current rules state that Stock class is limited to only one battery in the car. there are no restrictions on how big or where the battery is positioned, excepting venting batteries (as opposed to sealed) cannot be inside the cabin.

the rules will be revised soon to ensure people do not install multiple batteries to create one big one but within the 18V limit (eg: 8~9x 2V batteries strapped in series).

so yes, you can upgrade to a bigger battery if it fits, but it should also be safe and secure, so a new bigger battery tray would be essential.

Firstly, yes you can make a new battery mounting / tray.

By the current rules, yes you could move the battery to the boot (which it ALREADY is in my BMW from factory, so quite accepted as stock).

You would however be moving the entire electrical system's place of power.

What we have to remember, is that if we classify and create a rule for EVERY single little thing, we will end up with a 25 page rule book. That goes against everything we are trying to do, and is something I will not do. It will be the failure of this format otherwise!.

Cool, thanks for the replies

My tray was going to limit me to an Odyssey 800 and WAD doesn't stock them anyway... Now I can go for the biggest battery possible

biggest battery that you can possibly fit into your boot

Hmmm... Would you just put distrobution blocks where the battery is meant for the alt, looms, and earthing? And run a large wire from them to the battery at the back?

that could be the way to do it.... what about amps under the bonnet, can we do that aswell?

don't laugh it happened in db-drag years ago Street competitors putting amps under the bonnet to get as close to the battery as possible, they had to change the rulebook to stop it happening.

Just going back over the rulebook... I thought it was 2 batteries for StockB class... but now it seems its back to 1 battery again
