Are we talking JLW0's here?

For burps, the JL's should handle double that.

What do you mean by "ported to my res freq"?
First of all, you want your box/sub to peak at the frequency that gives you the most gain, from both the cars cabin and the sub/box combination..
So therefore the peak frequency that you use can vary not only due to the car, but the equipment used and the box location etc..
Secondly, the box will peak above the tuning frequency.. Tuning the port to the frequency you will be playing will result in a lower SPL reading.. The best tuning frequency is usually between 5-20hz below the frequency that you will be playing.. It depends on the sub, box volume, sub and port location, amount of power and SPL etc..
So basically there are a lot of factors to be taken into account and it is often easier to do the testing than trying to accurately predict what will work..
As a starting point, with around that amount of volume and in that car, I'd tune to around 37hz with 25 square inches of port per sub - ie 2 4" ports per sub or equivalent slot or square port..

i was thinking 2.9 feet each tuned to peak at my res freq with a single 5 inch port but i will do a 4" one if nessasary i am thinking of making external ports for looks and also to help increase box size on win isd i got dugger all port velocity with the 5" all i want to do is BOOM and be able to adjust the port for a little bit of music listining on the way Home from comps

You'll need bigger ports than 4"!

Yeah.. I recommended two 4" ports per sub, ie four 4" ports total..

righto here is the FULL specs 2 completly separate boxes 2.9 feet per box tuned to PEAK at my res freq.
ports facing up and subs facing up ports will be 50% in the box and 50% out of the box to keep the height down and volume up a bit..
ports will have an extender for daily driving if nessasary..
what sort fo spl might i be able to expect from this with 350 rms per sub..
sneaking near 150 ya reckon

I'd be thinking more along the lines of wots in your sig with that amount of power
Mr_Bob

i think you could get close to 150, (not on the new termpro meter though)
but you'd have to have a wall, and alot of time, tuning and patience.

Why is that???

i am hoping to be pretty high i will be looking into which car to use soon either 1988 mazda 323 hatch or 1986 pulsar hatch (not ET )
does anyone know which would be a better car all round

Dude you only have 700wrms, you need more power more cone area, more box and more port
Man what class do you want to pull 150dB in??
Like Mr. Bob said you can hit it quite easy in a wall in super street, but if you want to hit it on street it will be heaps more of a challange
Look at what power Car Acc Installs have!!!
2 MTX 1000D's and a MTX RFL 15" in a huge box, with heaps of charging upgrades, 0-awh wiring ect/
Have a look at UDL's car this Sunday, he has only 700wrms and a 15" and see what he does with it
