my brother and his mate are talking about building a sedan for spl purposes and a daily driver i said yeah good luck, they want to hit 150 with it and say they have been told that they can do it with what they have planned which will be

the car a ford XR6 bout 96 model i think
kenwood HU
and fusion powerplant 15" subs four of them but only run off 2 kenwood KAC 719 monobloc amps

and all this without sound deading or bracing(only the box will be braced internally)

i was wondering is this possible i was thinking that maybe they might hit 144-146 if they are lucky, i was also wondering if the xr6 or a VL which would be better suited for spl purposes?

How will they place the 4 15's? What coil configuration are the powerplants?
SSS_Hoon
they are dual 4Ohm coils as for placement they are not too sure yet but i think they will be in seperate encloseures with 2 inverted all in the boot facing up

What are peoples opinions of the best spl setup for a large sedan.

In street A would one 15 be better than two twelves, ie takes all the power no cancelation issues, or would the more cone area of the 12s get a better score.

What are peoles opinions on what to use to be competitive in any class, would it be better to go SS1-2NW in a sedan, than street A.

I just what some views bfore I go out and find the gear to use.

thanks.

Better off going 2 subs and more power, there wouldnt really be enough box space for 4 subs. you will need a fair bit of power to push 150. does the falcon have a spare tyre well?
SSS_Hoon
umm i think it has a tyre well not too sure, as for the power that is what i said to them only 2 of the 719's they are max 450 but around 250rms they are not 1Ohm capable and only having 2 of them would mean that they would be running 2 15"s of each amp at 4Ohm and too me that aint enough maybe 1 amp per sub 2 get it down too 2Ohm and i said they might be lucky to get the 144 mark.

2x12" would be the best, if you find the optimum enclosure. More cone area, and more efficiency. I think if you're not going to go all out in SS, then there isnt much point. So will you be going all out? I'm talking top subs, 2 amps per sub, batteries galore and heaps of alternators? if not, then stick with StreetA.

Two twelves, big ass ported box, big ass amp, thinking the cadence class D 1500rms into 1ohm, loading off the boot lid with the centre console of the backseat folded down.

Are power and the box the most important factors, with any two decent 12s, not trying to over simplify things.

opinions, thanks.
