i have finaly decided that 2 JL's will probably not cut it so...
can i have some suggestions of 2 15" subs that can take 350-400 rms each @ 2 ohms they need to be suited to 2.9 foot ported spl is my only consern SQ is to be a bonus of the subs...
but here is the hard part i need them both for a max price of $800 for the pair i will not import any thing.
although i am willing to go for any other configurations i have 2.9 feet per sub in the case of 2 subs and 6 feet in the case of 1 sub (i want to be able to run just one on certain occasions but the total cost must not exeed $800 for the subs
thanks in advance all options will be looked into

do you have a total box area of 5.9cubes?
for SPL run a single 15" with duel Voice coils so you can run your mono-blok down to effecient levels or get two amps per sub.
I pretty sure my Treo retail just under a $1000 duel 3" 2ohm Voice coils 500wrms daily power handling & 1500wrms burping handling (these handlings are supplied by Treo themselves) You could probably pick one up for $800! with out a dobt this sub can bring 150dB home with only 1000-1500wrms in the right setup
And I'm sure there is a DD round that price as well, all great subs, I can personally praise the Treo, remember to have a look at Burnie at my Lancer and UDL's Swift

how high would a dual 4 type r 15 get me only one but with 700 rms ported with 6 feet

I dont think the Type R's are much good for SPL... I've seen 2 15's with about 800wrms each do less than my single 12"...

Your best bet is a DD 3515, they come in dual 1 ohm , Dual 2 ohm or Dual 4 ohm allowing a match to any amp.
I'd probably recommend the Dual 2 ohm, but if your amp will handle 0.5 nominal loads for burps go the dual 1 ohm for sure.
The rrp on the 3515 is $899 and it has a continous muscial power handling of 1600W
We got 149dB from one in a sedan first go, more will come with tuning and the correct load on the amp.
You could go up to the 9515, but the 3515 will handle all the power you've got (and more) so it may not be worth the expense.
We don't have a dealer down there yet, so have a chat to your local store or contact us direct.

Phil what is the RRP on the 9515?
would the 3515 take 1200wrms all day?

Phil put the thiele Parameters of the 3315, I think there should be a Treo SS vs 3315 Challange, would be great comparison, both are by far the most popular subs around the world!
SS or 3315 both in duel 2ohm would be your best bet!
I'll see if the SS retails at!
and Phil, whats the replacement and warranty like on the DD's? Like if you blow it is it covered under warranty and what is the turn around time on getting the sub repaired, replaced!
Untill a sevice centre for Treo is established there is a full replacment warranty, you blow it you get a new one!!! turnaround time varies but under 2-weeks!!

I'm sellin my 15" Cerwin Vega rated at 500wrms and can take a ton more. I think Bluedog is sellin one too and he is in tassy as well.
We're both lookin for under 400 each. Let us know what ya think, Krase is sellin one too in W.A i think.
Should suit 2.9 cubes ported quite nicely.
Cheers

are urs the same model as his?
Butchman
Mar 30 2003, 11:26 PM
Yep both the vega 154 model, both have a single 4 Ohm coil on each sub, so u'll get a 2 ohm load for ur amp if thatz what ur after.
Check out my post in the FS section....

Well i've only ever run it in the car for bout 5 mins off a jaycar 2 x 150 bridged giving it 450wrms and it absolutely went off! The rest of the time itz been sitting in the lounge room playing of a home amp, running from bout 40 - 50 wrms and it sounds sweet like that too.
Talk to Krase about SPL with these i think he ran 150+ with 2 of these a few years back..
Cheers

Another option.
My two JL 15W6 subs in a custom ported box.
The subs have done only about an hours running and are as brand new. Does over 148 db, and won the autobarn launceston comp and the autobarn Burnie event.
The subs are dual 6 ohm and present a 1.5 ohm load to the amp.
Box and subs $800 firm.

One great 15 will easily out perform a pair of ordinary 15s.
Digital Designs are distributed in Australia, just like any other mainstream brand. Look at the full page ads in Fast 4s, Hot 4s and Street Commodores.
Turn around time for a warranty claim would be less than 24 hours, not that we've ever had one!!

24 hours holy crap that aint bad...
how much for a decent setup cabable of 145-150 with my amp 350x1 @ 4ohms 700x1 @ 2 ohms and 1000x1 @ 1ohm
to get 150 with 1000wrms u'd have to go with a wall i reckon. Only way, u make it seem alot eaiser than it really is.

Apr 1 2003, 12:46 AM
oh well any thing ova 145 with a ported box will do
Glen can you e-mail or PM me about those subs please i am overly interested now

24 hours, lmao.
are the 9515's still around 1400?
DD Phil
Apr 1 2003, 08:49 AM
Yep, I can easily send out a replacement in 24hrs. Not that we've ever had a warranty claim, nor do we expect to!!
145 on the new Term Pro meter isn't easy with only 1000W. 145 on any other meter is a piece of cake.
We easliy get 148+ in Sedans off a single DD 3515 and one amp.

I've personally heard glen's JL Subs in his car and they are insane. They haven't been thrashed as i think he was the only guy at the comps to play for 5 secs then shut them off *LOL*
Shaun
p.s. you selling the xtant amp glen?

Apr 1 2003, 12:19 PM
for a coule of hundred more, you could get a single 15" brahma (dual 2ohm)
it'll take your 1000WRMS without a problem
and sound awesome!

Before you consider importing anything yourself think about the freight costs and the warranty implications.
