i wanna make a SPL box for my 15w0-4,

i was thinking of a square ported box (that is removable) around 120L, tuned to 36Hz

anyone have any suggestions, opinions

What kind of car is it in?

I suggest tuning it a bit higher if its just for SPL... maybe around the 45hz region...

i'd go 2cf sealed.

Me got a jl 15wo in a slot - ported box. About 4 cu box. Not too sure what its tuned to, but im runnin it in a hatch back off a Coustic 600se. 600wrms into the sucka. It absolutely poundz!!!
Aint had it spl read yet. Should hit mid 140's!!! (figaz x'd)

hey fellas sorry to steel this thread but what size box would you reckomend for 3 of these yes 3 in a mazda 323 hatch ported/sealed what ever spl is the only game no sq required

we had one in a 4.5 cubbic foot that did a 140.5 db
ported, tuned to 30 Hz and 300WRMS. it goes just as well in a 2.5 cubbic foot sealed. its up to you.

Depending on the car..

In a hatch I'd lean towards 4-4.5 cu/ft tuned to around 40hz - keeping in mind there is plenty of room for more SPL from fine tuning the port length.

bassmekanik - how much space do you have? If the back seats are staying in, then I'd recommend as large as possible with the woofers facing upwards..

i will get 2 subs i am willing to lose the back seats in nessasary ported or sealed separate boses for each sub if sealed and a common box for ported you tell me...

max dimmensions with seats up are:
435 high
980 wide
500 deep how big will the box be in this area 2 separathe boxes for 2 JL W-0-15's

what sort of spl would i be looking at in sealed and ported with 350 rms per woofer?

i would say about 143+ ported, even more with fine tuning. Dont even consider running em sealed if your going for spl. Im running a similar setup with one sub. But with 600wrms.

my setup i got now got me 135.9db at Small Car Sunday, thats in a sealed box designed to go low, HUGE, all in a 92 Camry Sedan,

looking forward to 139~ in a mirage hatch, then 145s after i port it with massive db gains.

if i had borrowed a frens hatch and made a SPL box i would have walked home with a trophy from SCS
