if the D3 can do 6500wrms, at even 85% efficency
at 13.8v it will require 554Amp, this doesnt even take into account voltage drop, which with that sort of current draw would be quite significant. If i was genuinely running a single D3, id have atleast 3 batterys that size for the amp alone.

I very very much doubt that. 6500wrms is unlikely, and at 2ohm completely unlikely. The guys in the states are burping them at 0.25ohm to get the power out of them. So maybe modded running off 16V and 0.25ohm load you might get up there but still I have my doubts about 6.5kwrms.

I dont get it

Making this a poll was completely unnecessary...
That said, the D3 doesnt make 6500wrms.... not a chance in hell! Maybe close to 3000-3500wrms...
I take it you want to compete in StreeB?

I hate to piss on this picnic.. but where are you intending to get a PHD3 from ? Unless you're importing one privately you've got no chance of buying one here. Even the EQ Distro can't get his hands on them.
D3 don't do anywhere near 6000WRMS in stock form. Even @ 0.8ohm, the lowest you'll get with BALLS, you'll only see 3000WRMS at the very most.
@ 2ohm's you get 2000WRMS if your luck.
Don't confuse that surfboard that Earthquake had on their website for a PHD3. That was a PHD4 which was more an engineering exercise than a serious amp and is 2 modded D2's in the one chassis. The real D3, without end caps fitted, is the same length as a PHD2 with end caps fitted.
An Orbital may cut the mustard as far as power delivery goes but if you're intent on running in Street B, then fit a pair of them.
In short...
1. Forget about a D3 and get a D2 instead. Atleast you can buy them locally.
2. The BALLS should be ok, but for the money there's prolly much better SPL subs out there.

Actually, I've been told from a reliable source that there is a D3 in QLD.... one has been sold, one is available (AFAIK)

dont get balls....
they sound like poo for music or so i've ben told, and usign a california gold amp and a single magma blackice beat a guy with 2 18inch (iirc?) balls and a d2 (or maybe 2) and magmas sound muuuuch better...
so unless ur gonan build a wall, and not use the car as a daily driver, dont get a ball
imo anyway...

He was powering the 18"s off a pair of Jona Lomu amp's. Good for 141dB in the back of a TX5.
We got 141dB off a single 12" Earthquake Magma and 600WRMS worth of California Gold.
Same day, same meter

And then there is the Incar Windsor Swift NW setup doing ~151's with a pair of BALLS 15's and RF BD1500's. the front spider apparently broke off so they just ripped them completely off and glued tupperware containers on as dustcaps
I do believe they have some potential but not ideal, I certainly would not be buying EQ subs for SPL.... EQ for amps, not subs
