when you work out the length of a port needed for a box, just say 5 inches long. does this mean that the whole port must be inside the box or can you have say 3 inches inside the box and 2 inches on the outside? this just came to my head as i was designing my box.
thanks vaughn
u can have it any way u like !!!!!!!

Yes u can do that..
Ive done that and the inside was a slot port and had half of it sticking out!
If the port is outside the box then it has to be longer. say 2inchs is outside it will have to be 4inchs outside then.
Im pretty sure im right, its about double

It requires a different end correction factor, which usually ends up about an inch longer..
Its definitely not double!!!

Me FUBAR them - I calculated the port to be tuned at 47Hz, but with the ports outside I didn't make any correction - but it still hits LOUD!
