Depends for what application? Street, I'd go the L7. Super Street, maybe go the RF purely cuz it can handle more power. But overall, I think the L7 is better.

just out of interest...... When i bought a 15" sub just recently for SPL. i asked about the RF subs.. The RF Rep told me they are more for SQ than SPL. and he recommended Lightning Audio. They are both made by the same manufacture.
unfortunately because i don't have my amp back yet (11 weeks and counting getting repaired) i have been unable to test my sub.
maybe thats worth some though???

anybody have experencied the rf power hx2?
i can tell you this is a pure spl sub.
it can take 3000 wrms or plus to each coil
some people use 2 bd 1500 per coil(for burps only), each amp gets a 1 ohm load, bd 1500 is 2 ohms stable 1500wrms.
for sure not a sq sub. but is true the lightning audio can handle more power, but it sounds like sh***.
how much power can the l7 take?
for a street set up maybe the l7 gets louder, because the rf needs at least 1000wrms per coil to be burped in good conditions.
just for the record on last 3* multipoint event on germany team rf from spain(extreme 2 sub's) did 168db on the new mics with 2 power hx2 3115 and 8 bd 1500 amp. first place was rf too but im not sure about what gear did they use.

Well what is your application then? Street or Super Street. But I have to agree. L7's are better for Street and HX2's for Super Street.
I'm running a D2 @ 1ohm for each of my 12" L7's although the 10,12,15 share a common motor. So the L7's will easily handle 2kw burps.
street- i will buy new sub's this week, what i realy want is digital designs 9512 but they are out of my budget. so i'm guessing i will buy the l7. still i'm a die hard RF fan. when i start watching spl(97) here in portugal RF rules.
i still belive that they are the best spl sub's in the world( excluding DD), but the new models needs tons of power just to move the big 4 inch voice coil.
if anybody want to sugest me another sub i will be apreciated.
there was not my intention to prove that kikcer was better or worse then rf.

Nah, retail on the 3512 is $799...
but the only thing the L7 has going for it against the 3512 is the larger cone area...

Touche Holic
But on a whole, there are quite a few different types of subs being used to hit high numbers in street. I don't think any ONE brand is doing the best...

Actually, after looking into it I found this out:
Tapani Haapamäki from Finland set a new World Record at the 3x point dB Drag Racing competitions in Tampere Finland April 27, 2003
153.5 dB
He beat the previous record by 2.2 dB !!!
Tapani uses a Fiat Panda, and was the world record holder last year in the Street 1-2 class.
Here are the products:
(2) Digital Designs 9512 1.5 ohm DVC´s in a bandpass enclosure.
(1) Orion XTR-PRO 2400 amplifier
Tapani tried also DeathMatch (average score for 2 minutes) and hit 150,4 dB which is an unofficial WR too.

Markku Skantz's 154.4 is louder than 153.5..
I guess it takes a dB nerd to figure that out.
