I'm installing some 6.5" speakers into the rear of my mates commodore... What are some installation options for this setup?
Thanks

Just do what holden did from the factory, if all else fails, I think a VS parcelshelf fits straight in, but if you can find a VP with the parcelshelf trim, use that.
IIRC the VN’s had the same speaker mounts as VR-VS’s

No.. the VS shelf is completely different to the VN-VP one. The speakers are in completely different spots and the VS has the centre seat belt coming through the shelf.
If you can find a VN-VP Calais shelf, you will gain metal grills, then you can mount you speaker directly to the metal shelf underneath (once you pop the plates out) and put the shelf straight in. Nice and stealth. Failing that, cut hole in the standard VN shelf in the factory location.. ie the far corners, open the boot and have a look up at the metal shelf, you will see the 6" speaker plates in the corner, just below the glass, these plates are held in by spot weld, pop the plates out then mount the speakers to the shelf..
Good luck, if you need anymore help. PM me!

From factory most VN-VP didn't have speakers in the rear, if they did they were 6" dual cone frisbes.

Two choices:
Make a custom shelf. or/
Ditch them and get 6.0" - which will go right in
