Ha Cyberpunk,
I need some advice on whether a second sub in my system that I am putting together will be worth it in my SQ set up.
My system consits of the following:
Alpine CDA-9815
Focal 165K2P SPLITS
Alpine MRV-T420
Focal 33KX SUB
Alpine MRD-M1000
Stinger 1 farad cap
Stinger cable
Focal plain chant
Brown bread SD
It will be all going into a Hatch back car so not the biggest car.
As the topic says will a second 33KX help me any with SQ or will I be just wasting my money?
Thanks

Another subwoofer will only have an effect on the output capabilites of your system..My suggestion would be install the system with the 1 sub if you are happy thats great if not and you don't have the output you desire then purchase another sub
You are using some bloody good equipment and from my experience with the focal subs it should be more than enough for a system built with SQ in mind

Ditto what Keith said
For SQ we are aiming at spectral balance and so having overly abundant bass isnt required. I like having plenty of Bass for open road but turn Subs down for comps, as car is judged parked. Its hard to say how much bass you will get with one sub, which may be more than enough in a hatch and should be ample for SQ but you can always add another if you find you want more

I agree also, one sub with that kind of power should give you a tonne of bass.
The problem is the more you have, the more you tend to want, if you're not careful you could up with a 155+dB wall like I did.............
(But then again not everyone has the same problems as I do!)
SQ is the most important thing in any system, but at the same time you should be able to listen to a system loud, volume adds impact to music. Look at any concert, be it classical to punk, live music is loud, hence it is involving.
If you love to listen to your music loud, it may pay to get another sub now before committing to expensive custom installation work.
