There hasn't been much comments about MTX's prodcuts. I've been offered a 10'' sub, are they worth the money or should I look elsewhere.
Thanks for good comments.

We need more information. Like the model sub, the amount of power you will have, the amount of room you have for a subwoofer box, the price of it versus your budget, application (I'm guessing you want sound quality at "sane" levels). And so on...

i'm running 2 mtx amps at the moment.
I had a mtx 6000 sub but fried the coil.
could have something to do with the 1500wrms i was running into it.

mtx subs aren't too bad from all reports.
unfortunately, others have also fried the VCs. but that only happens if you overpower them...just like any other sub. so it's no doubt the fault of the user rather than the product.
the (current?) 6000 and 8000 series are pretty well built too.
so to be 'worth it', as bassA asks, it depends on how much you have to pay.

I have two mtx thunder 6000 10's setup in my car in a free air setup. The work extremely good. It caters for many styles of music, but does get a bit muddy with long extended base, and fast responsive base at the same time. BUt mind you, it does handle it well.. The only problem i have with them is that they are very over powering.. They provide solid bass response, and having aluminium cone, handle the free air setup that i have thme running as.(they are not designed for free air.) Being mainly db speakers, the fit the bill for sq very well.

I have been messing with MTX stuff for years and think very highly of the product. I still have Black Golds, that even thou I dont use them couldnt bare to part with. I also have a 302 amp and a 6000 10 inch sub I plan to put in my honda(eventually

)
Anyway MTX is a great product IMO and as long as you dont feed crazy amounts of power into them, provide a great all round sub. decent SPL and SQ. The amps seem to be bullet proof

I was running 2 thunder 6000 15s(the older grey cone) and they wern't too bad. They were a loud woofer, but didn't play low enough for my liking.
