Hi Guys

I've been offered a set of dynaudio's for a good price however the model is "system 240" now I've looked around and can find plenty of information on the "system 240mk2" and "system 240gt" but nothing on this model. I', suspecting this is an older model possibly before the 240mk2? Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what are the differences between the sets. I'm presuming it comes with a 7" woofer generally does this cause problems fitting them into doors that hold 6.5" currently?

Thanks in advance

there was originally only the system240. then came the mkII and GT.

the mkII improves on the passive xover of the original. the GT uses a smaller basket/frame for the woofer, and has slightly different specs which probably better suits large 'enclosures' like doors.

nothing wrong with the original system240's. i use these now. as far as i know the woofer and tweet remain exactly the same as the mkII. the baskets are relatively big, which does pose problems for some doors. particularly that the back of the woofer doesn't taper down much, but remains large. so you should test-fit first. where the standard woofer won't fit, the GT ones may have no probs.

hi shiny

thanks for your reply mate. Ok thats good news that the tweet/woofer havn't changed I wonder how much difference the crossover made. Ok will deffinately have to have a look into the fitting of them into a magna's door. One more thing if you don't mind when did you purchase your set and for approximately how much?

CAA member 'hutch' is the distributor for dyn. he may be able to add or correct anything i've mentioned. smile.gif

i considered changing the xovers for the sake of it, without knowing if there'd be any improvement. however, they're not cheap from memory ($200?). in the end, i couldn't be happier with the standard setup, and can't imagine any significant improvement.

i bought mine secondhand about 2 years ago, and cost me $400. they were already about 1 year old.

Shinycar is right on the money. The original 240 differed from the MK2 and GT in that it used a different crossover, the X-240 which had exposed spade type terminals, the tweeter, still and MD-100 had Dynaudio Mobile Fidelity written on the mounting cup and they came in a different box. Performance wise there is not lot in it as the drivers are essentially the same with only small tweaks made over the years.
