I've been thinking about my next install and i have basically settled on getting this amp. It's a 3channel amp so basically looking to be running my front stage which i am unsure of what that will be at the moment.
And also a 12" Eclipse Aluminimum. My primary goal is SQ but the basic question (pretty much just to see if i'm thinking straight) is will providing this sub 340watts rms when it's in it's recommended sealed enclosure yeild descent performance out of this sub? And still leave me with enough front stage power?
you haven't mentioned what is your front stage?
what have you short listed...

I haven't shortlisted anything at present. Basically just looking into the amp at this stage. If it's anything help once i get the amp it will be running a pair of VDO HPC 1700 (150rms) but would be looking for something that is around 70rms for my front stage when i look into upgrading.

is the eclipse sub is DVC 4 + 4? or SVC 2?
otherwise the amp will "only" put out 250 wrms @ 4 ohm, which is still ok for sq i guess

will be the DVC 4+4 model. So i will be running it down at 2ohms thous reducing my front stage to only 65watts per channel.

65wrms will be fine for normal and loud listning, if you want mega loud then more power would be nice, but as you say you want a SQ setup.

yeah, the power on tap from this amp is ample for most SQ setups. 65WRMS will drive most splits to a very loud level.
i currently run my dyn system240 splits (renowned for high power handling) off my audison VRx with 75WRMS on tap. with the volume set to 20~23/35, it's certainly is at the 'loud' end of the scale
when driving. for SQ (engine off), i might have the volume at 15~20 and utilise a fraction of the power on tap.
should be no probs.

The audison 3 channel really is ideal for a SQ system that doesn't cost $10,000.
It gets my thumbs up thats for sure excellent amp.

do you get clipping past ~23/35 Richard?
How low are the gains roughly?

no clipping. the gains are tuned properly!
full power (just below clipping) occurs at 35/35 volume setting. so i imagine i use 30~50WRMS for normal daily listening.

sorry to take over, but is that how most of your guys gains are set, so clipping would start at around the '36' mark?
thanks

Why do you want to ditch the amps you have?
Secondley if you are after SQ why have the sub
bass so loud.
IMO you would be better of buying better front speakers then buying and selling gear.
Good luck with SQ, awesome fun.

no not at all.
'35' is the max setting on my HU.
gains should always be set so that full usable power is available when the HU is turned up to full/very-near full. no point having full power with the volume set to 30% full, nor never having enough power with it at 100%.
refer to the Tech Article i wrote on setting gains to better understand how it should be.

Basically i'm looking to sell off my amps to gain back some space so i can do up a nice install. Yet while still being able to access my spare tire.
I just thought it would be a good place to start getting rid of the amps first and working from there. And plus it's pretty much the cheapest part of my system i'm looking at to replace.

No worries mate,
Just thought I'd ask in case you were wasting some hard earned cash.
Front speakers are where the most improvement is on upgrading though.

Yeap i'm well aware of it matey.
And also just like most ppl hear when you get into car audio you can help but change your system all the time! Damn addictions!!
Any suggestions on front speaker though. Seeing as i haven't heard a lot can someone just name some brands off. I'm looking at about i'd say no more than 600-700 for the fronts.

plenty of good splits for this price.
my favourite of the moment would be the alpine SPX-177A 2-way splits. awesome value verging on a bargain for the SQ they offer. RRP$699.
alternatively:
*focal polykevlar 165KP
*daimond audio M6 series
*pioneer TS-C160R
should be good starting points.

Do Audison have a website? Anywhere I can go to get further technical information on them?
I'm interested in using this amp to power Focal 165 K2Ps and a sub (undecided on what yet). Is this what this amp is targeted at?
