No.

The whole point of going for a ported box is it allows you to have control of the tuning frequency. If you tune high you get doof doof and good spl increases, if you tune low you can achieve a very linear output down to very low frequiencies which is somehting you cannot achieve in a sealed enclosure.

it depends on the sub and its specs. some subs suit ported, some suit sealed. as long as you design and build the box to suit the sub you can create it to suit SQ, no probs. some subs suit either.

as such, you can certainly have excellent SQ with a sub suited to a ported box (eg: focal utopia sub).

if you particularly want sealed or ported, then choose the sub accordingly. people commonly make the mistake of buying 'any' sub (probably cos it suits their budget and the salesperson told them it's a good sub) then come here to CAA asking for designs for 'ported' boxes. only to find out that the sub they've bought is far better in a sealed box.

if you choose a sub based upon reputation as an SQ sub, then be prepared to build the box that suits, sealed or ported.
