Can you benefit with better SQ in any sound system with a Balanced line Driver or transmitter?.
Cyberpunky
BLD are used a lot in pro audio, and serve a useful function, as the higher voltage and balanced signal, is of great benefit, when a long cable run is used. The higher voltage ensures adequate signal level, at other end of cable and even if voltage drop is substantial, its negated by balanced signal. The balanced signal is also immune(sp) to induced noise, as it is canceled out.

In car audio we dont have long enopugh runs to worry about signal voltage drop, and although the balanced signal provides a way to avoid induced noise, so does a unsheilded twisted pair(UTP) RCA lead. As UTP leads are cheap and can even be made using nothing more than regular cat 5 cable and some RCA plugs, using a BLD is an expensive option, with little or no benefit.

They were popular many years ago in competition, due partly to everyone using sheilded cables(and so having induced noise issues) and very low voltage outptu HU's where the line driver function was great for keeping the noise floor low.

These days with HiV HU's and UTP technology, I wouldnt even consider wasting my money on a BLD
hope it helps

Thanks for clarifying that Cyberpunky, i thought you were going to say it was used a while back but now its not needed since we have UTP cables. I have a Pioneer DEXP1 Headunit which has 4 volt output and it has been tested to have more volt output than specified, I just thought since its an older HU therefore i needed a BLD.
