looking for a single sub for mainly SQ but with Acceptable doof ability and SPL cabability in a pulsar hatch. It will be running at 2 ohms of an alpine MRD-M1000 monoblock i want to go 2 10's or a single 12" i want to run it in a small sealed box with decent ammounts of dacron in the box.
Heres the killer it has to look damn good front and back (i reckon type R's are pretty decent).

Not many choices...
IDMAX!!! by far one of the sexiest subs around, comes at a RRP of $849, goes LOUD, goes well in small sealed boxes too...
I second the IDMAX, Dual 4ohm will go very very nice off the M1000.
A big sealed box would give the Ultimate SQ, u'd be hard pressed to find a sub that will beat it.

Woot!! Motion passed on the IDMAX!!!!
HAHA. Look at my sig!. Looks like it might be similar to urs soon!
I have mine in a 1.4*cu ft and it goes loud, low and proud!
It is probably one of the best subs in its price range!! Remember to get the D4 to wire it up to 2 ohm load!

The actualy min box spec of the IDMAX is only 1cu ft. I like my box bigger, thats all. So it is perfect!
BTW, they are also very sexy looking!!

Boston Acoustics Pro 12.5LF
Works in 1cu foot enclosure. Seems to get damn good reviews where-ever I look!
Doesn't look half bad either.

Damn i wish the ED woofers came in dual 4 ohm then i would go with a single 10"

Infinity Perfect 10VQ subs look great with the massive basket action happening out the back.
The tens will work in anything sealed from 0.3 cu ft to just under 1 cu ft.
Fantastic sound with a big surround for good excursion as well.
Two of them may come into your budget. I'm not sure what they would sell for in Oz but surely they'd be cheaper than here in NZ.
