Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the W7s and how they rate as an SQ sub
thepowercosmic
I've got a 12W7 running in a seal box, with the JL 1000/1 amp.

Previous to this I had the 12W3v2D2, also in a seal box with an Audison Srx5 on the sub channel, can't recall the power.

Much more bottom end response, than the W3, and much more range.

Absolutely the best SUB I've heard. I'm going to try a port box when I have time, see the difference.

This sub it power hungry, and to get the most out of it you need power, I'm glad I got the 1000/1 instead of the 500/1.

If you want an SQ JL go with the W6v2 much more controlled than the W7.

Ive owned a 10W7 and a 12W6v2
the W7 has more output and at higher volume has less distortion and plays alot louder without distrotion than most other subs out there due to its linier motor design.

The W6v2 had the SQ of the W7 infact i prefered it tonally to the W7 but it was a close call.
The W6v2 does not have the undestorted output SPL capability of the W7 but it sounds as good if not better but you loose the undestorted high SPL SQ levels of the W7.

disadvantage of a w7 is they like power and they need quite a big box compared to other make subs of similar size. For example the 12w6v2 uses more or less the same size box as the 10W7

...That's why I got a 12W6v2 instead of the W7. Couldn't afford a decent amp for it, not did I have space to fit in a 1000W+ amplifier.

I'm super happy with my W6v2. But that's cos SPL isn't a big deal to me..there's only so loud I can listen to my music without getting a headache and feeling sorry for my car.

I've only heard praise for the W7 though..if you like things loud and clear then throw in a monster amp and pump it up!! biggrin.gif
