hi guys i am after a new setup for my 76 corolla wagon i have owned and auditioned alot of splits,6" 3-ways and 2-ways and subs also.

in terms of bass i hate deep droony bass as such of nelly - e.i thats just crap and its annoying, so i was thinking 2 10's or something.

i was thinking of hertz hsk's and a jvc deck or eclipse and a sub and amp of some sort. my last decent set-up was 2X12" pioneer subs, alpine spr-176a type r splits a alpine 4X40rms v-power amp.

i hate splits with harsh tweeters and when i owned my hertz esk 165s splits thats exactly what they were so i sold them. i also found the alpine splits were the same.

i would go a 12" sub again in like a 1.2cu box (the pioneers were 1.5 each) so thats an option but i really cant decide on hu or amps or what sub or even if the hertz are worth it.

i live in burpengar qld and maroochy car sound it half hour drive away so i have access to focal, fusion, eclipse, clarion, panasonic, jvc, sony and pioneer stuff so that will be handy but if u guys can help me out that would be great.

i can only spend 1 grand thats the main big problem.

i was even thinking just get splits and a hu now and save up some decent money and get a good sub and amp. cause i dont have ALL that much to spend.

i can get the new series of hertz hsk splits with the new woofer and tweeter and better crossover for 320 and a jvc deck is like 500 so that would leave me with like 120 bucks so yea but i dunno if a cheaper and relitively the same deck is available. even second hand amps or something?

thanks alot guys this is going to be widely appriciated.

cheers.

if you listen to your music loud then id look at silk dome tweeters or other non metallic material ones,
these ted to be less harsh at high levels, ask around about them..prehaps put a post in the demo room asking about sq splits with non metallic tweet. for under $600 then you still have 400 for a hu.. then save for more outboard gear at a later date
cheers

i posted there.. http://caraudioaustralia.com/forums/viewto...p=324186#324186
i do agree the metal tweeters do suck. the type r's even on -3 db on the cross over were still too harsh and not as noticeable so i prefered it on 0 but then it was hurting my ears.

anyone else got reccomendations? also check my other post to see a list of what speakers and stuff i have had in the last year if it helps yas out with helpin me. smile.gif

cheers.
