at this time i'm using Denon R1 using fluxx pre amp with modified passive and go to my audison vrx 2.250. Speaker i;m using is focal 7' utopia and scan speak revelator. the problem is the results is very bad and i don't know why it sounds that bad. i do have 1 LRX 2.150, should i use that for the revelator and the vrx to hook up the focal?
or is it possible because of my passive cros?? should i use eq 30 band to make the sound flat? for the sub i have no problem and i 'm happy with it.
i ran out of idea and please give me your opinion
I'm assuming its the revelator tweeter?
try hooking it up to the amps and running them actively to check if the passive crossover is not optimal. Play with the crossover settings and gains. I think Shiny_car has a tutorial on setting gains and crossover settings on the tutorials web page.
can you describe what is sounding bad?
using your 30 band EQ, how are you going to make it sound flat? Do you have access to a RTA? or are you going to leave all channels at 0dB (ie. no change) on the EQ (in which case you are doing nothing to improve your current sound if your EQ is set on flat atm anyway) ?
this is the tweeter?

i can only find the graph of the 6.5" utopia driver
but i would say as a rough indication to try highpassing the tweeter around 2 to 2.5khz and then bandpassing the utopia driver around 70hz to ~2.5khz with an 18dB slope.
The graph i have doesn't seem quite right, looks like the focal driver stuggles a little bit when it hits around the 2.5 to 3khz area before a big drop in off-axis response at 4khz.

If you use a crossover designed for a 4ohm driver and run an 8ohm driver off it, the crossover point not only changes but the components are no longer matching and this can cause a fair bit of distortion.
Give active a go, if you have a suitable crossover

yes a friend of mine has one RTA but i'm not sure wheter i use eq or not. the sound at his time the revelator tweeter is more dominant than my 7" utopia. and also the focal semms like something "stuck"
May be i'll try to make it active both tweeeter and the utopia. if you said i need to use active crossover it means i don't need my pre amp anymore right?

i'm sorry my tweeter is ring radiator, not revelator
