My friend has bought most of my stuff cos at the moment i cant afford audio sad.gif

His system consists of:

Pioneer 860MP (private import)
Dynaudio System 340
Xtant X104

He is looking for two amps to power it and for install purposes should match, or at least look the same.

Options so far are:
2x Arc Audio 2100XXKs (2x100wrms and 1 x390) Can get for $1400
Tru Tech T4.65 (bridged for 2x200wrms) and Tru Tech T2.100(bridged for 400wrms) $1650
2x Zapco ref 350 (2 x 100wrms and 1x330wrms) $1696

Now the Arc Audio setup is a few hundred cheaper but he doesnt know (and i dont either) whether 100wrms is going to be enough to power the Dyns.

Budget for both is preferably under the $2000 mark, any other suggestions?

Personally i'd go the TRU but thats just me

May i ask why his budget is so high but he has chosen amps with so little power? I think money spent on something like an Audison LRx 2.500 and the audison LRx monoblock, would have so much more power and be cheaper than all those options.
micha3l
im not sure :?:

Thats why he was aking for opinions

So another option is a LRx2.500 and LRx1.400 $1700
Maz
Audison LRx series?

LRx 2.500 - $799
LRx 1.400 - $899

Both within budget and thats the retail prices, prolly get it done even more. Lots of power with this setup.

Thanks for considering /recommending our products smile.gif

If you go ahead with the above combo, be sure to ask for your free RN1.

Please be aware when comparing amps to compare like with like. The Audison LRX series compares with the KAR series in the ARC Audio range while the VRX series would be more fairly compared with the XXK series of ARC amps. To address another point raised, 100watts is more than enough to properly drive a Dynaudio System 240. I have the 240's in my car at the moment and I have run them with great results of amps ranging from 75 watts RMS right up to the ARC 2500XXK. (270watts a channel)
micha3l
ok he was impressed wit arc amps. but he will be usin dyn 340s not 240s, so will 100wrms be enough for them?

its really between arc and tru

Another option, why not a pair of T2.100s or a single T 4.100V2 ?

The Tru 2.100 will put out quite a bit more than 100watts per side...in lab tests by Mobile Entertainment mag it put out 172wrms @ 4ohms 1000hz 1% THD plus noise and 484wrms x 1 bridged.

I'll have to agree with all of the good products mentioned above.

However, one should consider the fact that all of the products are also designed in mind to work within its own caliber of performance and the type of users in which the product was designed for.

The T-4.65 will produce much more than 65w x4 utilizing far superior TO-3 Metal Can output devices. Bridged will produce 250w x 2. They are specked out at 120V/150w devices and will outperform any other TO-247, TO-3P or T-220 devices in thermal dynamics (heat dissipation).

They are also a Bi-Polar design. Meaning, as the temperature of the amp rises, the THD goes down and efficiency goes up. So, the amp will maintain +/- 10watts of full power right up until "thermal shutdown" If it shuts down.

The T-4.100v2 uses a 250V/250w TO-3 Outputs, 1% Film Resistors with 8 -2,200mf capacitor bank. Meaning, it has 1000W+ of outputs. Meaning, the amp will seldom notice any "Power Compression" or the Power Supply "Sag" during Peak demands.

They also incorporate Dual Power Supply. Also, due to its fast switching speed of the power supply, it benefits much greater in efficiency.

Oh BTW, they are all Hand Built with 100% QC by the engineer one at a time.

100watts RMS will be perfect for 240, 340, 360. ARC amps make more than rated power, like most amps. They are also hand built and QC'd, and are designed by Robert Zeff, the creator of the first high powered car audio amplifiers, Zapco. (Zeff Audio Products COmpany)

hmmmm decisions descisions....

I spoke to him this morning and he is definelty thinking the

2xARC 2100XXKs

Or a Tru T4.65 and a T2.100

Just wondering though, do you lose any sound quality by bridging a 4 channel amp? Or would the extra power outway any loss?

They make Exact Power.

They are also hand built

How is this possible if they are SMD(surface mount design)?

Actually, Jim Fosgate is the God Father of Car Audio Amps. Robert Zeff is one of the first but not the first.

The arc 2100 will do about 110-115 rms... but it won't do much more than that...

Since I've compared a 2100xxk and a T2.100 directly, its very noticable how much more power the 2.100 has over the xxk.

Sq both are very nice, but in terms of raw power, you'll get more output from the T2.100

No, you won't hear any loss in SQ bridging the 4ch amp.

I'm running an ARC2100 for my fronts (old set of focals) and it sounds great.

I cant comment or compare to the tru tech gear, but so far the SQ is the goods. Compares favourably or on par with the old Phoenix Gold ZX sereis amps I owned. On a per $ basis, they are pretty damn good...

if your mate has listened to them, don't let him be fooled by the opinions of others, let his ears be the judge.

just to add to this discussion

ive just owned (and sold) my eclipse amp PA5422 4 x85watts rms or 2 x 240 watts rms

this amp is EXTREMELY clean and great value

another option is the jlaudio e4300 bridged its rated at 2 x 150watts rms im not sure how good this will be until i setup my new system..i just hope this amp is as good as the eclipse.
stoff
i've had the chance to audition the T2.100 in my car and i run dyns240..
sounded very nice smile.gif plenty of power, wouldnt need any more..

my new amp will actually be TRU tech, but T03 biggrin.gif
