Hi guys,
Need to up the quality of my front stage, looking at the following choices and need some personal opinions
Alpine SPX-177A
Focal 165K (not a big fan, these are quite bright)
Diamond Audio Hex
Want something that sounds `natural` and gives out some nice midbass. I have heard someone compare the Alpines to the Dynaudio sound in this sense.
Splits will be installed in factory 6 inch door location with tweeters flush mounted on the side mirror pillars. If funds can stretch far enough, I plan to run them from an Alpine MRV-T420, otherwise I'll use the Clarion VNET I already have.
Suggestions anyone? :?

My personal taste also finds the Focals a tad on the bright side for every day listening. Properly installed however, with the tweeters installed in the kick panels rather that door sails or a pillars would probably make them sound a little more natural.
All the speakers you have mentioned there are exceptional. Make sure you audition as many in your price range as possible however, as it does not matter what any of us think, you are the one that will be listening to them daily.
Don't discount Morel, Hertz, Dynaudio, Boston, just to name a few that also have a range in your price range.
My personal findings of Diamond Audio HEX is published in the Product Reviews section also.
Good Luck :thumb:

Had a listen to the Alpines yesterday. WOW
Finally it seems they have a product which poses a genuine threat to the best Europe has to offer. Between them and the Dyns (also auditioned), very very little in it. If I had to pick I'd say the 240 GTs offer more resolution. But thats it. And for an extra $250 it would only come down to brand loyalty.
Always been happy with Alpine but far and away, this is the most deeply impressive product of theirs to date. Soon as finances are sorted, I'm buying with confidence
