=)

Xristo

300wrms isnt much??!?
when i was a noob i had 65wrms into my sub and was loving it
commodoreboy
what is your budget?
EcHo_2134
my budget is around $400-500.....

300 watt rms isn't much..considering what some of the sub amps put out nowadays.
commodoreboy
the Kicker Solarbaric 10'' retails for about $400 and it is rated at 450rms and the 12'' retails for about $500 and is rated at 600rms.

do you already hae the amp?
dazdillinger
in that price range id definitley have a look at the xtant hex subs

yes, definelty do look at them. I had one running off 2 channles of a Tru Tech T4.65 so about 250wrms and it sounded GREAT!! Could go way loud, to loud for general listening, yet was still very controlled and detailed.

Many SQ comp winning cars have used these so definelty worth a shot

The Image Dynamics ID V3 gets my vote

The 10" RRP is $299 I think and 250 - 300Watts would be perfect for it smile.gif

Bye,

ix
but have you heard one yet Mo? smile.gif
yeah its an accurate sub
i have my reservations about the low end extension though, but i haven't had time to come to a conclusion yet
EcHo_2134
yes i have the amp...soundstream rubicon 600-4

bridging the rear channels to run the run the sub

300 watts rms at 12.5 volt...if its underrated i might a little more at 14.4 volts.

Where to you buy xtant subs in sydney?......
commodoreboy
Fhrx sells them in Sydney and i would highly recommend him.

from personal experience i would vote for the digital designs dd2012.
Fhrx
Image Dynamics, Hertz, Kicker, JL, Boston, Diamond, Phoenix Gold - there are many good brands.

I'd recommend having a look at the new Diamond subwoofer. smile.gif

I recommend 10" Audiobahn subs, they handle 400rms nicely and sound great! and the chrome flame baskets are a plus.
EcHo_2134
Ok

thanks...i'll look into it..

=)

I've noticed alot of the SQ guys go for the dual voice coil sub. I'd definitely reccomend the pioneer ts-w12prs sub (heard it in a few show cars):

15-2000hz response range (will blend excellently with mid-bass drivers if crossover networks are set up properly)
SQ optimised
300 watt r.m.s
$900 retail

It makes no diff to the performance to the sub if its a DVC or SVC. I'd say that since almost all of the better subs are DVC thats why you see them in many SQ cars...

Bye,
Mo

PS: I wouldn't compare Audiobahn to the likes on JL, ID, BA, etc.

Why do people think you need to give a sub its rated power having sat in the ID reps car with two IDMaxs in it both of which were only recieving 250WRMS I can tell you that you don't they sounded absolutely amazing and bloody loud as well.
visconti
in my opinion boston pro is also a good sounding subs,
you might try soundstream exact subs as well

Peerless XLS.... common.. someone has to buy one sometime.. :?

hi

i got a dd3012 (i think)...sounds sweet, more of an SPL sub opposed to SQ ie..a little loose sounding..but for $350 i can't complain.

running off the rubicon 600-4 i couldn't sell....bridged for just over 300watts rms, with a 600 peak it matches the sub perfectly.

i did think of getting an xtant hex sub, but the thing is the DD is handmade in the USA, just like the soundstream amp i got..so i opted for that instead.

i wanted the pioneer yellow SQ sub, but at $900 it is out of my budget and the rest of my equipment isn't good enough.

it doesn't really blend with the 6.5" splits i got..but then again it is a 12"....a 10" would've been better but then again...the resonant frequency isn't low enough for my liking.

this is what i would call a 'kiddie system' its loud and uses mainstream market equipment.

suits my 'kiddie' vw golf nicely.

I'm running a Adire Audio Shiva mkIII (12inch) in a one cubic foot prefab box powered by 100wrms out of the rear channels of a v12. Apparently can take up to 600wrms but I'm more than happy with it at 100w. It has dual 8ohm coils (is used for home applications more than car audio) so can be wired in parallel to 4ohm.

I'm not exactly sure of the cost (was a 21st gift) but the shiva's have a brilliant reputation in the states for SQ while being affordable.

Haven't had much to compare to, but its amazingly controlled and "tight" but still goes very low (too low at the mo til i fix up multiple car rattles =)
EcHo_2134
mmm....i didn't think of using a home audio sub in my car...=(

wish i got a sub for my 21st..i got one of those gel seats for my mountain bike instead..

what car is it installed in?

=)
findog
'88 holden astra (rebadged n13 pulsar). check out www.adire-audio.com for info on the shiva and email the guys at http://www.acousticconcepts.com.au/ to find out prices. Might be a tad more than you wanted to spend but i'd recommend it definately.

btw if u search round heaps u might find a story where a guy used 12 of these subs in a sunken box in his attic, with the open end a hole about 14" square in the floor of his home theatre, hehe from memory he measured a -3db point of around 13hz! the pics are beautiful if u track em down =)
gooki
From the price I presume it's a dd2012.

Get it in the right box and it'll sound even better. Also try adjusting your xover points to intergrate better with your front stage. From memory I had mine crossed over at 70htz and was very happy.
