Hey guys

I own a 2000 au falcon

alpine 9827 head unit
front boston 5x7 coaxials
rear kenwood 6x9s
12" response amp
2x150 rms response amp
4x50 rms response amp

Now i wanna upgrade my front stage so im looking at getting some good quality splits.

My local car audio store has 6" Boston Rallys which he quoted me around the 5-600 mark. Is that a decent price? I know the Boston speakers will be good but at my local shop they dont sell these other brands like Dynaudio and MB quart. Should i look around for these other brands or just stick with the Bostons?

Just another thing, could i use my 4 channel amp and bridge it to just the front stage and leave the rears off my head unit? or just keep 1 channel for each of the four speakers?

Oh and when i do get my new splits up front, should i leave my kenwood 6x9s in the rear? or replace them with the boston 5x7 coaxials that ive got in the front?

Thanks

RRP on Boston Rally 6" is $499 so you should be able to pikc them up for a bit less than that. Whether you go for Bostons or Dyns or MB Quartz depends on your budget.

If i were you, i would bridge the amp and run your splits off that, with rears off the head unit. i like a big front stage biggrin.gif

as for rear fill, i'd fade heavily to the front anyway, so it wouldn't really matter which speakers you had in there. i'd probly keep the kenwoods as the bostons would probly have better resale value

Perhaps the easiest solution would be to get the Boston Rally splits up front and move the Boston coaxials to the rear, and ditch the Kenwoods altogether. More likely to be a better tonal match amongst Boston drivers, and those Rally components are good sounding and good value, in my opinion.

For your amplifiers, I would bridge the 4-channel amp just to the Rally front splits, and run the Boston rears off the head-unit, as you suggested.

PS: That Response 12" Amp you have sounds rare and impressive :hehe:
