There's nothing wrong with running rear splits, but the only reason i'd suggest buying splits for the rear is if you wanted matcing speakers front and rear. Otherwise, coaxials would be a better option.

Personally I don't use rear fill at all, just a dedicated front stage with a sub. I don't find rear fill to be useful enough to warrant its presence; sure, a properly adjusted rear speakers would add the ambiance of the presentation, hand claps would be heard from behind if it's a good live recording. But most (if not all) of the time the level/gain needs to be set so low so as not to disturb the sonic presentation coming from the front speakers. If they are too loud, it could create a soundstage shift, dragging it from the front to the back.
A properly set front speakers plus the acoustic behaviours of your car interior can create a good ambiance without the need for rear speakers.
The only scenarios where a set of rear speakers are necessary:
1. Car Theatre. In this case you need matching speakers front and rear.
2. You want rear staging (as indicated in your first post). But IMO a true SQ system demands that everything must come from the front.
If you insist on using rear fill, then atmo's suggestion is good. Otherwise, save the money for something else and concentrate on making a great front stage.
