Hey im looking to upgrade my front stage and my local car audio store sells alpine and boston speakers mainly. They dont stock mb quart or focal or dynaudio.

What do you think of the alpine splits vs. the boston splits?

pros cons?

Should i look into the other brands or if i stick to the bostons and alpines will be fine?

Also my cars factory front stage is 5x7. So i replaced the factory speakers with boston 5x7 coax. The guy at the store told me Boston make a 5x7 split speaker and that they should sound as good as the 6" version. Does that sound right to you?

Im leaning towards getting the 6" Boston Rallys even if this means getting a custom door pod or baffle. But the door of my car ( Ford falcon au ) doesnt look like doing it myself would be easy.

well i havent exactly heard them side by side (actually i've never heard the type Rs knowingly) but i do know that boston did make the rallys in 5x7 and i don't see why the still don't...

might make it that much easier

Boston splits better build quality IMO better sound quality as well, a bit more powerful. alpines look really nice not that that matters but thats about all they have over the bostons U will need to listen to them and see which you prefer as everyone has their own taste

whilst i haven't worked on your car, i do believe it's easy to remove the factory plastic baffle and replace it with a nice solid mdf wood one. in general, i always recommend replacing plastic with wood cos it provides a more solid mount that does not resonate nearly as much.

it may be required anyway, regardless of 5x7 or 6" cos of the depth of the woofer.

i personally like the boston rally series speakers. but audition them again and try and decide what appeals the most.
