I know there are alot of people using the SPX 177a's at the moment, and I was just curious as to what speaker location people were using , and what the settings they were using on the cross over. Woofer slant etc.

Also how much power were they giving them?

Thanks

Well Im running mine off a MRV-T420, which seems to give me plently of head room in my opinion. Atm I have mine HP rather high but from what I remember I dropped my tweeters down to like -3db or what ever the lowest one was as I found them too harsh on the other x-over settings. As for wooder slant I can't remember for the life of me, I think I just fiddeled around til I got it sounding good to my ears.

Im using stock speaker locations also, which in my case is the driver is in the door and tweeter is in at the bottom of the a pillar, well more behind the side mirrors I guess.

I didn't notice to much seperation or any bad reflections being that high which was suprising.

im using -3db setting for tweets and 45degree slant for woofers as they are in fairly stock location. running same setup as Mike C it would seem. Crossed over at 80Hz.

Yep I run mine off a T-420 also and it suits them to a tee.

I have not however even begun to understand those mongrel looking crossovers...

Should dig out the manual and have a read

manual is less then helpful with them basically the slant is how much u want to turn the speaker towards u so if they facin the opposite door u wanna put them on max 45degree slant if they in pods angled at u then have them on 0degree or whatever sounds best to u.. thats my understanding anyway.....

actually the manual is very helpfull and correct. if people take the time to read it they will understand how the networks work. you set the network depending on where the speakers are located (tweeters included). read the last pages and it will tell you, oh if some people haven't noticed you can bi-amp the speakers... but you have to remove the busbars before you bi-amp... again read the owners manual, people don't write manuals for nothing. oh unless you (owners of products) know everything or have ESP...

Or like alot of people don't worry about reading the manual until they break something.....very funny when ppl do that.

ha ha ha

read the manual. Geez, maybe I should have thought of that?????

I simply wanted to know what other peoples settings were, so I could get a general response as to what might sound better then my current settings.

Is it so hard to get comparisons with people who run the same gear ???

Thanks anyway Kevlar

Most people that have those speakers go via the manual unless they run them active.

Answer you question?

Hope that didn't sound rude, if so sorry...
