I'm very happy with this system, and while I never intend to compete in SQ competitions, I am curious about the quality of this system for SQ purposes and what I'd need to change if I ever did want to compete?
ultim8DTM5
Is that the splits + subs combo from EXESIV's E36?

I'm sure most people on here would tell you that the first step is to compete and get feedback, then make changes accordingly.

See you on gccv

Baron Bohr
Yes - it is those splits, although I'm importing the sub specially as there are no new Vega subwoofers in Australia ATM....
BIGW
cv for sale

theres on for sale on here $170
Bodyjar
It sure has the equipment to go very well in SQ comps and to sound very nice. But the only way to really say wether its good or not is to get someone to listen to it...

Entering CAASQ is the best way to find out smile.gif

Also, why did you go with 5" instead of 6"?
RTTZ
And make sure they are installed well smile.gif

Bye,

I can only put 5" speakers in my car without serious hacking...

Re CV sub - I am importing a brand new one from Singapore (we have a FTA with Singapore, so apparently it's import duty and gst free) for around A$260 (including shipping!)...
paddles
Probably up to the adjustments and installation as to how nice your system will end up sounding, time correction is great for giving that 'full' sound by making all the beats arrive to your position at the one time... smile.gif apart from that it is looking nice, although i wouldve chosen a dif hu
Baron Bohr
When picking up the amplifier (which looks fkn awesome!) I couldn't resist buying what I believe is one of the first of these in the country...

http://www.soundstream.com/sub/products_subs_vang.html

A Van Gogh VGW12 Sub-woofer - first one in the country. biggrin.gif

So, now the Vega 124 will be either cancelled, or put in my other car. biggrin.gif
Fudd
so much for it not being an addiction haha
Baron Bohr
hehehe... I'm done now, I promise... wink.gif
Fudd
so many shiney new toys to play with,

now i want new subs and amps sad.gif
Baron Bohr
Hahahha... you can come and play wiht mine (or help me install them!)

I'll need plenty of help with all that!
ultim8DTM5
Is it just me or do the VG subs look identical to the Tarantula subs???

Good work, I see Drew has corrupted another...
Baron Bohr
I was corrupted by Mike van Leuwinn (sp?), the new Director of Soundstream Austrlia. smile.gif

The VG subs look very similar to Tarantula Subs:

VG = DVC and smaller magnet, Tarantula = QVC and bigger magnet

Tarantula/Van Gogh

Although on the SS web-site they don't look very different...
ultim8DTM5
So A-Z Trading aren't doing SS anymore...hmmm interesting
Baron Bohr
No - AZ trading lost soundstream in January or February, I believe, and Soundstream Australia was set up a month ago. Mike arrived here 3 weeks ago, and his stock arrived last week - I understand I am first person to purcahse any of it. biggrin.gif

Mike will be establishing what appears to be a dedicated distribution netork, so expect SS to come back with a vengance over the next few years...
Psymon
Out of interest, what's the RRP for the Van Gogh?
Baron Bohr
10" is $500
12" is $600

You pay $1 per 1wrms... smile.gif

Pricey, but they look awesome, and appear to be good quality and as far as I'm aware are great for SQ. (It's the first sub I've ever owned, so really can't compare it to anything).
Fudd
i think another amp and some 8in mids up front would be the next step
Baron Bohr
No no no... don't make me want more! Please!!! I've got to pay all this off yet!
Fudd
haha
Stooge007
surely you're going to go inverted with that sweet sweet sub???

- Stooge007 out
Baron Bohr
the front looks pretty nice tpp though...

I'll be setting it up so I can go inverted or normal... only neesd 0.6 to 0.8 cubic foot box, so pretty easy to set it up for both...
jas
what happened to that guy whom wanted all cv ???

the ss stuff looks awesome...its always nice to have things no-one else has even yet to see in person :-)

now you better get rid of the cv splits so that you can have soundstream splits ..hehe, sorry that was crule
Baron Bohr
Go away Jas... I don't want to hear you...

There's a little voice in the bck of my head already telling me that... (I was thinking of doing that... when I get more $)
Mr Stream
Good work Baron, just for the record, Van Gogh is SS new "Sound Qual" sub, it is price pointed very nicely as a replacement for the exact once stocks run out ( we still about 100 left ). They are DVC4 ohm where the Tarantulas are DVC 1 ohm (but actually measure up at 1.3 ohm coils).

There is heaps of good gear out there, don't want to seem like we are giving this stuff the hard out ram down everyone's throats, but this will be a brand that very quickly finds itself back at the top of the car audio lader in this country, the range, quality. apprearance and reliability of the gear will get it there on it's own merits, but with the marketing, demo cars, autosalon presence and passion we have for it - we just hope to get it there a lot quicker !!!
Mr Stream
Obviously if ou're at all curious - www.soundstream.com or we'll see you at an Autosalon event near you !
