I've just taken delivery of three sets of XLN Pro interconnects and want to get some of Monster's good speaker cable as well. I know I could get the XLN spkr cable but may end up going even better.
Anyone have good pictures of the stuff and know the diametre in mm of the XLN, M10.2s, and M20.2s cables?
The NZ distributor is trying to help me out but this may take a while, hence the question here.
Cheers.

Yeh, it's pricey ($50/m and I need 20 metres) but I'm being looked after in that regard.

You can seriously tell me that you can hear the difference between speaker cable worth $50 per meter and cable worth $50 for 20m!
If you can, please tell me how you do this!

My eyes might hear the difference.

When you build a system and pay attention to absolutely every detail the way I do, yes, you can hear a difference albeit perhaps a subtle one. But I'm into getting the subtle stuff (I used to spend hours getting the VTA (verticle tracking angle) and tracking weight just right on my turntable to get the desired but just perceiveable result for example)
I do alot of stuff that people think is nuts other than outlay big money on cable but it has a cumulative effect.
And in the scope of things, it's only a small portion of the retail price of the gear in total ($12000+). This system will be way better than the system I had at 2002 Auckland Auto Salon and that was described by a few senior people as one of the best that they'd ever heard.
The cables I had on my home system were $700ea for the balanced interconnects and my tri-wire spk cable was $650/m so this is not new for me.
And yes it does look pretty with its black mesh sleeve but most of it will be totally hidden.
Try putting "Winno" into a babble fish translater and it spits out "Crazy"

You must have some pretty golden ears if you can hear the difference!

can hear a diff between cables? just had to knew it was a home hifi guy...
seriously, what variables change in wiring to enable such a change in sound?
IMO all wank factor, and piece of mind knowing that ur not letting ur other equipment down cos u didnt fork out for decent cables... other than that ive heard cheap cables, very cheap cables, and very expensive cables on very expensive hifi equip.... yet to hear a difference, even moreso in a car environment.
ive heard of lots of hifi people even using the cabling from lamp cords and they dont claim to hear a diff.
i dunno, i just think there isnt a diff, and most studies and tests done on this show the same result.
dont get me wrong, im not trying to shoot you down or nefign for spending that much on cables, obviuosly if you can claim to hear a difference, then good for you. im just trying to provoke discussion on this topic of "can you hear a diff between cables" cos i think its interesting and would like to see other ppls opinions.

ps sorri for being bit off topic

i wanted to buy some monster stuff for my car too
loved the way it looked...just awesome, hear the difference..dont care
i emailed nz monster distributors about some of the car stuff, since the aussie distributor only has the home stuff.
basically the price was double what i could get it from the net and there was none of the cables i wanted in stock
so basically what was the point in buying from the distributor when the its going to take the same time to get the goods at a lot cheaper price.
the argument about warranty isnt an issue. Its cable its damn cheap to post and its very hard to damage in a post pack compared to say electronics or speakers.
anyway great choice since the monster stuff looks just soo good in the car :-)
im damn envious now :-)

You cant be serious...I got a bridge for sale and some magic crytals you place under your amps...I also have an energy polariser for the car too
I use $30 MTX RCAs in my system and its only worth about $30,000. Sure its now retired from pro class, undeafted but maybe I could have got some really good sound out of it if only I wasted...I mean spent more money on my speaker wire...what was I thinking lol
peace out

What can I say?
Perhaps I am blessed. I do hear differences consistently and therefore it's not wasted money for me.
To bad you guys don't hear differences. At least you're not throwing big money at it then. That would be silly.
Anyway, my questions have been answered through my own research.
Thanks.

Dont listen to what every one else says. I reckon its good that your prepared to spend the money on quality cables.
And apart form that its your money. you work hard for it so you can spend it on whatever you want. And i tend to agree with you, its a cumaltive thing and it all helps.

While I personally cant hear the difference between cables, I can justify spending MODERATE $$ on good quality cables to insure that they are BUILT well, and last a decent time before starting to fall apart...
Having said that, atleast Winno can justify TO HIMSELF why he spends big $$ on cables, the whole can of worms opened very time this comes up regarding "can you hear the difference" is somewhat irrelevant (esp this thead!) AND Winno had the balls to comeo out and say that he believed he could hear the difference.
:!: So what is the diameter of the cable winno is looking at??

the only reason i have such good quality cables in the car is casue they were so damn cheep!
someone go grab a pair if stinger RCA's and cut them open, there not that special.....
what is the difference anyway between $3 per meter pure copper and $50 per meter Pure copper?
you just paying for the fancy cover?

Do a search on the net for some technical info from say Audio Quest or Monster Cable. I don't even pretend to understand alot of the stuff that's written although alot of it still makes sense.
Once you've read it, with an open mind, just for a moment, try and see what's happening.
p.s. Don't forget that two very intelligent and extremely repected people work with Noel Lee at Monster in helping his team design cables...Richard Clark and David Navone

or do a search on the net regarding the many tests performed with results showing no difference in many different cables.
ive got the audioquest vipers supposedly unidirectional cables... how does that work?
