hi
i've had the front doors soundproofed at doran, using brown bread. i can't seem to tell the difference except the doors sound more solid when being closed.
should there be more mid-bass?.....i was told that there was no need to soundproof them as my car isn't bad sounding (vw golf). what do u guys think of this?
is using other products such as dynamat or that g-spot stuff alot better than brown bread?

I sound deadened my doors using flashtac and spray on tar (too tight to buy good stuff) but I used a sh#t load
It is also in a Golf, a MK111 and I noticed a huge difference, my focals had three times as much mid bass as they did before it suouded like I was running a small sub.
It was enough to shake to outside and inside mirrors.
Best thing I have done for the money

Echo try adjusting your x-over points on your amp (or where ever they are sent) it may require abit of tuning perhaps. You might find they could be crossed over alittle too high.

i'll try that..but i think the head unit cross over is being used..current set at 120hz..(i think)...
its either 120 or 220.........sony deck isn't that great......want to upgrade soon...

definately go down to 80Hz are they amped?

Anything is better than nothing and lowering your x over points may help. It might be your speakers just dont produce significant midbass so thats why no change.
Anyway I have always used products like roadkill/dynamatt etc and have always been impressed by how effective they are but cant vouch for cheap alternatives

mm...dun think the deck goes down to 80hz for the hpf....
yes...the speakers are amped.......pioneer yellow splits (only got them coz they were cheap $350)..with about 90watts rms..
i opted for brown bread..because i couldn't get dynamat on the same day...
oh well...maybe next time...

I've run dyn mat and alson g-spot and found both to be effective, and eaiser to use in certain applications for each of them.

anyone still get tiny annoying rattles even with heavily sounded doors? my doors are deaden to the crap house but it still manages to make a slight niggle that craps me!!!

Yeah there's only so much that sound deadener can effectively do. I used almost $500 of high grade stinger and dynamat for the two front doors. With extreme bass hits (played at high volume....), there are still some rattles.
But as Cyberpunky stated, more is better than none. Will tighten and deepen midbass response and I find it also focuses the staging dramatically.

$80 a door at doran
idk if thats a good price or not..
no..no rattles, there weren't any to start with.....no matter how loud i turn the music up.

Xristo Id put money on the rattles being the lock mech control rods. I know ppl who have wrapped them in foam tape to stop this type of rattle successfully, but you need to do it in a way that waont foul the action.

I know of a car that was sound deadened at Doran.
The sound deadening left much to be desired.
Did they do both the inner and outer skin of ur doors? How much brown bread was used? Did you see the actual job being done...
I doubt it would have been done to the standards that would actually make an audible difference....I could be wrong, but then again...I could not.
Give FHRX studios a call...Marty will deaden your doors til they're heavy enough to fall off. You WILL hear a difference.
Yeah..and as stated before..drop the HPF to below 80hz. I'm running at 65 right now. The SD really brings the bass out in the doors. You can feel it when you lean your legs against the door.

There is nothing quite like 10 kilos of extra weight in ones door is there?

no i didn't see them doing the actual deadening...although he the installer did mention that he had to use prepsol to get the brown bread to stick.
i don't know how much they used, given the door is made of a thick metal i figured it wouldn't make much difference anyway...
too late now..its not like i can go back and complain

If you don't want to complain, you can still take it to someone else and get an opinion of how good a job was done. If it was good..u get peace of mind.
If not..you can get it redone...
