Full Version: Opinions on clarion's SRS1751HX Splits

Just wondering if anyone has listened to, or owns a set of these splits, we just got a set in today, and I am considering buying them to replace my response carbon/kevlars.

1) Do they really extend to 120Khz or is this a marketing gimic

2) Are they worth the $450 dollar price tag, I know this is relativly cheap compared to some of the high end gear U guys are using, but I just want a nice sounding system, not an award winning SQ setup

3) what, apart from the physical diferences, are there between the SRS1751HX's and the SRS1685's?

4) I will be driving them with an alpine MSV1050 Twin Monaural amp... Nuff Power?

Joo reckon's i should buy them, or go with something different?

Cheers Peoples... biggrin.gif

"Do they really extend to 120Khz or is this a marketing"

Most likely a typo on the marketing material.

"Are they worth the $450 dollar price tag"

You can get better for that pric.
Fudd
they possibly could go to 120khz, but you will never know running CD's

Cd's only go to 20khz so anything much past that is useless

what is better for that same price?

Meh...sounded kind of fake and a little dull and lifeless to me, but if you like them, go ahead as the price is ok for Clarion's flagship speakers.

There are many other alternatives at around that price though, give or take a few dollars, for example:

Alpine DLC-176A $499
Boston Acoustics RC620 $499
DLS R6A $529
Focal Polyglass 165V2 $530
Hertz HSK-165 $359
Morel Dotech MK-II 6 $459

which are a small selection of speakers that would all sound superior, in my opinion.

You should try and audition as many sets as you can and should find something to suit for that price.
Have a listen to the Clarion's too, and make your decision based on what your ears are telling you.

I don't know about CD,s but my ears only go to 20khz!
