Which one would you choose? I am going for audio/video but would still want a warm/smooth sound. I dont like harsh tweeters at all. But i need the speakers to be able to handle video too.
a) Morel Elates 6
B) Focal K2P
c) Focal 165W Utopia
d) Dynaudio 240GT
My system:
Pioneer AVH7550DVD
Audison vrx404 (2x130) = power midbass
Audison vrx 203 (2x40) = power tweeters
JL 500.1 = power subs
JL 12w6v2 = Subwoofer

i might be a tad bias here but the morels are great speakers, but not having heard the others i'm not much help.

can morels and dynaudio handle video such that if i crank up the volume, you wont get afraid that it will break up?

How do speakers reproduce video? :?
I have the Dyns but haven't heard any of the others, so I can't give you a comparison. They're nice though

each has a unique sound. the only way you are going to know is if you have a listen to them all.
the focals can be bright but i wouldent say harsh

If a speaker setup cracks/distorts at high volumes someone hasn't set their gains correctly.

What makes you say that?
I had focal utopia's, and thought they were nice sounding.
I am now running Morel tweeter's and they are awesome.
Have also heard a few systems with dynaudio and they are good too. I dont think you can go wrong with any of those speakers.
Try them out for yourself with the sort of sound you are likely to be playing through them.

Why's that? Beacause its in/going in an AV system?
Apart from that are the Utopia's good?

Focals have the reputation of being bright. Some people say exquisite, some say over-bearing, some haven't even heard them, but have an opinion anyway!
Don't let opinions sway you: audition, audition, audition...... if they're good for you, who cares what Joe Bloggs thinks?

dasherhalo - yeah i stand by the saying "auditon audtion audition".. and i would have! If it is only readily available in our country (Philippines). The only ones available here are the Focals. The Dynas and the Morels would have to be imported. Thats why im basing these on reading.
So far, its a battle between Dynaduio and Morel for me. Which sounds sweeter / warmer among the two?

Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with the Focals. I love their mids, just can't stand their bloody tweeters

What sounds better, the Dynaudio's Esotar tweeters or the Morel Supremos?

...and Boston Pro's and MB Quarts blah...blah...blah
You of all people know that speaker location and axis play a huge part in the perceived brightness of tweeters...most people bury a mid at the bottom front of the door and then aim the tweeters directly at themselves and mount em in the sail panels or dash...and say gee I wonder why my tweeters sound bright?
Listen to the ones in your budget and pick the ones you like
