Full Version: Too Bright

I just put in a pair of Kicker RS6 splits into my TX3 Laser. The problem is that they are way too bright. The mid drivers are in the door and the tweets are also in the door, about level with the arm rest directley above the mid driver. My other problem is that the sound stage is also way too low, about level with the tweets. I fear that if I put the tweets up higher, say on the dash, my brightness problem will be even worse.

What can I do?

Thanks

Adjust the attentuation level on the crossover, set it to 0 or -3db if you haven't already.

And angle them upwards and back to adjust the stage height.
Maz
Does your headunit have treble adjustments?

If its like an alpine u can pick the treble frequency and asjust it accordingly.

Also put the tweeters on -3db on the crossovers.
Cyberpunky
You could put pillows over them to kill brightness smile.gif

My crossovers dont have an attenuation adjustment. Unless there is something im missing...
pingpong
might have to open it up to get to an internal switch if its not apparent from the outside? (my PG's are like that).....you could try the piece of cloth over the top trick too
VL Commy
paint them black. Shud be pretty dull then smile.gif

but seriously, most crossovers usually have a -3db or so switch in them to attenuate the tweeter. Failing that have a play with your H/U and try turn down the treble freqs
fortresshill32
place a thin layer of foam on top of the tweeter....it works
Ole'
silk over the tweeters will do it too.
Fudd
put them in the boot. wont do much for your sound stage, but should quiet them down
DazTX3
So to increase the sound stage I should angle the tweets upwards as in directly upwards or upwards and facing towards the seats?
tupaki
Hi, play a little with arrangement of the tweeter. Don´t arrange them direct into your face, let them play to the rear view mirror. If it doesn´t work, you can low down the level with a resistant:
>>klick<<
(Sorry, it´s in german; Dämpfung= lowering device in dB)

Best wishes,
Holger

Uups, soory, just saw gooki already told you about playing with angle...
