These are not in the same league as the tweeters you have listed however I think they are a fantastic tweet.

Focal TN46 kevlar.

They no longer make it but for a mid range speaker set, it is fantastic and sounds sweet active.

But you are talking top end stuff here so you probably did not want to know that. I just thought I would add my input!

in no particular order

focal (inparticular the td5)
scanspeak
dynaudio

I doubt most of us have even heard half of those brands in the car.

I'd have to say the Supremo's are my favourite.
Followed by the Vifa XT25's i use to have.
Then the Dyn MD-130 tweeter.
east_bay_punk
morel supremo - just a great tweeter, and play pretty low
a/d/s 3 series 1" - reasonably low x-over point, makes angling of mids easier.

dyn's arnt to shabby, shame bout the esotars dimensions.

scanspeak revelator 9900.. this is the momma of all tweeters... but the ring radiator 70000 is even better but too expensive..

Seas, i'm using one in my car.. I like it cos it's mine.. haha..

dyn md100. the best tweet in value for your folding. ever. sounds awesome and doesn't cost a bomb.

other than that, in soft domes i'll have:

anything else dyn
morel (esp! supremos)
scan speak (esp the revelator. they're great!)
orion concept
hertz at the cheaper end. and i like vdo splits for the cash.

metal domes....

well, actually, i only like metal domes that you won't find in a car! lol i'll have monitor audio or epos metal domes. mmmm... they're the only metal dome i've heard that i truly love.

but at the end of the day, really, how much of a difference in tweets can you justify. sure, jumping from a $100 tweet to a $400 tweet is gonna be a big step up.... but $400 to $1000??? diminishing returns strikes back.

i'm happy with my md100.

Ok so heres what im down to, price/size wise

a) Morel Supremo
B) Scanspeak 2905/9500
c) Seas T25CF002 (E011)
d) Usher 9950 (or 9950c-dont know the diff)

I will run them ACTIVE at probably 3K+

Im going to use this in the kickpanels of my 2004 Ford Escape SUV along with dynaudio MD140/2 mids to be powered by an audison (2x130rms at 4ohms) amp.
jas
dont forget this tweeter

scanspeak D2904/600000

uses the same revelator dome and is 4 ohm and very small

i use this car tweeter in my car and love it (but might go back to esotar one day). Its small and has a grill which is nice smile.gif

i use the scanspeak Scanspeak D2905/990000 for my home speakers and are not too bad. The Scanspeak D2904/600000 doesnt go as loud but sounds very simular and its much better than the dyn md100 especially off axis.

my friend uses the seas excell millenium tweeter in his home system its not all that impressive, i prefer the D2904/600000, D2905/990000 tweeter or dyn esotar. I have yet to hear the scanspeak ring revelator but i have heard the vifa (xt series) version, which is great for the price but not all that impressive compared to the others mentioned. Dont use the 950000 series you are a lot better off with the revelator D2905/970000 which is the same as the 990000 but without the phase plate.

i have heard the Morel Supremo in a car at autosalon. Had them in the kicks with fibreglass focal 4inch mids and some other modbass units in the doors with a soundstream davinci driving the setup. The system sounded clipped to me and it reminded me of the morel usa cr103 tweeters i used to own, the worst set of tweeters ive ever heard (and that was using 7 different crossover alignments even tried active and then tried 6 different amps to drive them with the same results..what a horrible tweeter the morel usa cr103 really is). I hope it was just a setup issue with the amp being driven into clipping rather than sounding like the cr103s. For that price i would expect a lot.

So you'd recommend the D2904/600000 over the Scanspeak 2905/950000 and the morel supremos right? The D2905/990000 is out of the question as its size is just too big.

Is Seas T25CF002 (E011) also the Millenium?

Between the two, which would you prefer to be used in kickpanels (in car)

a) D2904/600000
B) D2905/970000

many of the speakers listed up there would IMO be equal in their ability to faithfully reproduce music, with differences being due to taste rather than quality/ability.
IMO u cant go wrong with most of those up there although youd want a good crossover and correct integration with suitable woofer.
and are u looking to install these into a car? or a home system?

woops my bad just read the above post

i plan to use it in my 2004 Ford Escape SUV to be combined with Dynaudio MD140/2 (mids) and MW160 (midbass) and JL12w6v2 (subs)

all to be driven by audison amps

this is my system:

jas
Dyn D260 Esotec

i believe that the MD130 is the car audio equivalent

it is 4ohms and designed for car use unlike the D260

here in aus they were about the same price so you were better off with the MD130 tweeter

i still think the md130 is a very good choice

Have you guys heard of the Hiquphon OWII ? I m leaning towards it
-DJ-
yeah i know the hiquphon tweet. lovely little unit.

still prefer my dyns tho.

If you buy it brand new...I got my set secondhand, about 95% blemish free at a fair price (as in slightly less than 50% retail for both). Haven't got the chance to install it in my car (still working on the tweeter mounts) but I did test it in a friend's car. Soundwise, fabulous! Highs are detailed yet not overpowering, very natural and transparent set of tweets! Sonically, the best tweeters I've ever heard. But then again, I haven't heard a lot of tweeters within the same range (price and performance) as the 70000, so couldn't make comments about other brands.

Cheers,

Bon

How about this instead: Manger Sound Transducer

All u need is an excellent HU and an excellent 4 channel amp, with channels 1 and 2 powering the front drivers and channels 3 and 4 bridged, connected to a Velodyne sub. Simple!

It's a biatch to install tho...

Bon
jas
ive heard the manger drivers a few times at the ces. They are a lot of fun :-)

but i would always choose the mbl 101d or 101e :-)
