Just after some opinions on the Soundstream Exact subs. Basicly, I will be looking at updating my subs pretty soon and seen these at the BAS. I didnt get a chance to hear them. A friend of mine has a set of 6.5 soundstream exact fronts, and they are the most musical set of splits I think I have ever heard.

The other good thing about these subs is they only require 200wrms to run nicely.
Any other suggestions on a replacement sub??

i really dont understand what you are trying to say here

why would you get rid of your type r's for some old secondhand soundstream subs. The exact series were good at the time but over the past 4years there has been a lot of improvement in sub design. More power longer excursion and lower distortion/more dbs.

Believe it or not, you can still get these subs new if you know the right people.

I also understand that new subs have come along way, but I cant justify spending the money on a new amp, to run one sub hard, when I could run 2 more efficent subs with the gear I already have.

Everyone seems to be focusing too much on power handling, before making a decision as to what the speaker sounds like.

I just want a nice set of clean sounding subs that dont require a small town power supply to move.

ive owned the soundstream reference subs and splits before which are very very simular to the exact series. I would not choose this for my car these days. When the exact series was new they were some of the best products on the market, but things really have changed.

The single 1507 alpine will work with a adire audio braham 12 or image dynamics idmax 12 very very well

single woofer smaller box than the dual soundstream and work perfectly with your power amp

thats what i would choose over the soundstreams. Even if the soundstream stuff is half the price id still prefer a smaller box and cleaner output (yes id always take a single brahma over dual soundstream exacts...anyday)

The Exact range is still available for sale, these subs can still be had brand new as they were and i beleive still are the best SQ subs ever built. They dont require a big box to work, not bigger than your average 12 inch.

Dude you will not make a mistake in the owning these subs they handle 500WRMS each but are very very efficient hence not requiring a lot of power to drive them. I had two in a Termpro designed twin ported box and they lasted for five years in my car before i decided that i wanna go SPL rather than SQ. The box i had was 3.5 cubic feet with twin ports and when you take woofer displacement and port displacement thats not a big box.

Im sorry but ill take these over an Alpine sub any day.

Oh and Jas the Reference series were nowhere near the Exact range. The reference series was one of the first series Soundstream ever built and had reliability problems. The Exact range is completely different, SQ oriented and the Reference do not match up in any way shape or form.

i have 2 exact 10's. love em. cant imagine needing anything else.
solid, built to last, and accurate. 25litres each sealed isn't much.

I've got nearly the identical set-up. 2 x 10's in a sealed enclosure, run off a monoblock rated at 400wrms @ 2 ohm - so 200 each....

These things are the tightest subs I've ever heard. If you can get them new, let me know - I may get more! They are absolutely fantastic.

From memory, they are very similar. You'd like to think they did some good things before they released the new range though!!!

Yes i can get the latest Exact range. And no they were not similar to the Reference series. The Exacts were specifically built for audiophiles and sound quality. I still beleive they have a huge excursion even compared to todays subwoofers, great cast basket design. They are very very tight, even in a ported box and do not get out of control, very precise and very smooth.

However the Exact range is now only available in the 12" they are not available in the 10" anymore.
