Just so other people can actually read what he wrote.
"I am trying to put together a new system for my car but i am finding it difficult choosing components.
The head unit i was looking for something that plays Dvd-audio only because its a little bit more natural sounding than ordinary Cdrs. I had the clarion in mind Hd2 but it doesnt do dvd-a but has a few other things that i like.
The other is the new alpine f1 that plays dvd-a, but i really dont like paul graham i thinks he is sinking alpine into the ground. But anyway the pioneer 7550 does dvd-a but it has a fold out screen didnt want multimedia just a good source unit like the good old days of the CD700 from Nakka. Not that reliable but when they worked they worked well.
Splits was going to go three way was thinking of the morel elate9 with the supremo tweeter or the dyn esotar tweeter. I'll keep the other tweeters that come with the Elate for front ambience up on the dash or maybe just go for the Dyns three way and add the esotar tweeter. Something for rear fill from either one morel or dyn audio.
Subs have got me my eyes on the idmax12 because there priced not to bad but i really have no idea about the subs. I dont know if i should stick with two 12s or four 10s. I like the top of the line DDs but i havent heard them they look the part though. The other option was three 13w7 but i havent heard anything good about them and i dont like custom car to much.
Amps well i was considering going the Audison thesis for the front stage and a lrx for the rear and a small ssrx for the front tweeters on the dash. For the subs i was going to go the vrx1.500ex but get two of them so i can run the subs at 4ohm. This will be a 4ohm car i dont want to drop under 4ohm for any reason if ineed more power i prefer to get either a bigger amp or more amps rather than loading them up to 2ohm or 1ohm.
Now as far as reliabilty goes i was going through the forum and noticed a few posts on relability on the Audison products i have had a vrx1.500 vrx 6ch and vrx 4ch and also had problems with the vrx 1.500 but Phil at Rm audio had one for me in about 4 days BRAND NEW not repaired the 6ch & 4ch are still going today with no problems. What happend with the vrx 1.500 who knows all i know was that it was replaced with a new one and i was on my way sold them all to a mate and there still going in his car till now. When i say i bought this stuff it was in 1998 from Woollhara car audio and they were pretty much the top of the line amps. Back then that you could get other than the special braxx amps that you had to wait forever to get, let alone service so i wanted to know if you think that maybe either the tru tech or zapco comp amps are better? I want it to be as pure as possible.
Thesis was my choice for the splits up front but if you can recomend something else please advise as its not a cheap procces and the last thing you need is to pay all this money and its sittnig in the workshop more than its on the road. You spend big money have problems spend little money example Clif design and have no problems at all please explain ??? Anyway any suggestions would be helpful."

(but i really dont like paul graham i thinks he is sinking alpine into the ground) QUOTE
you shouldnt bad mouth someone who is one of the best in the industry
he is geared for SQ so you mite not understand his technical talk but he knows s**t loads and has built alot off the best cars in oz.
anyway hes left alpine
Scott and Jeff have taken over in the P.A.D. and are very real world when discussing the technical side of the industry witch makes it easyer to digest
