Full Version: Audison Problems - version 2

Okay, second post regarding my Audison LRX2.500.
It gets signal, voltage and remote voltage, but produces no sound.
Anyone had similar problems? I'll keep playing with it (and put in another amp) but any similar experiences might be interesting.
Thanks,
Chris

It's only a thought, but is your low pass filter turned OFF?

Q: What are you running off it?

edit: The reason I'm asking is that some people that wire subs that have 2 voice coils stuff up the wiring and wire one + & - then the other coil is in reverse and the sub stays still while they turn the gain up on the amp and the volume on the deck up and notice that nothing is happening. But I can tell you an others that don't know this, that something is happening. You are infact slowly burning the voice coils on your sub biggrin.gif seen it done a number of times by people rushing to put the sub in the box and not paying attention to the wiring...

double check your earth lead too...
STIK79
does the power light even come on?
drakul
The audison is running into a set of dyn 240GTs.
All the lights come on, the earth lead appears to be fine..
Ill recheck all of that again today
Mr_Bob
make sure the earthing point is stripped of paint, and is bolted down securely... if it's loose, there might be enough power flowing to turn it on, but not enough for it to produce sound.

haha. still problems.

the rest of chris's system comprises a 9811 head unit, alpine 757 running 10" w3 and the lrx driving the 240s.

we'll be swapping the audison for (one of...) my amps i've got lying around soon to see if its the headunit pre-outs or the audison amp. the alpine/jl continues to function as per normal.. its just the front stage that drops out.

i have a sneeking feeling that its the audison in need of a trip to the repairman! but we'll see when we get another amp and, if needed, new headdie in the equasion.

has anyone experienced problems of this nature with audsions amps? retailers speak up! smile.gif

cheers

Having a VERY good ground along the chassis of your vehicle & from your amplifier to the chassis is a must or your amplifier will suffer regardless what wacky brand it is.

People failing to provide the amplifier with proper ground will get winnie the poohs as they encounter problems.

In most cases it isn't the amplifiers fault it's the ding bat that installed it biggrin.gif
-DJ-
lol icacha. yeah me and chris ripped it out and it turns out theres 8ga to the +ve and 4ga to ground, but the monkey that installed it really is a monkey (even if he is a mate). it was a rushed job and the audison went on a smoke-o. off to the repairman it is.

he's running my zeropoint as a stop-gap measure and it sounds wonderful!!! smile.gif

cheers

maybe im off track here, but dont audison amps have onboard fusing? would this have anything to dowith your situation?

i had a similer problem with my 1.400..

that was a nice repair bill sad.gif
-DJ-
well its under warranty... lets just hope it doesn't come back "user error. repair bill is $xxx". not sure how well that'll sit with the installer, handing him the bill...

i mean, really... it was driving the front stage. it didn't get abused (chris doesn't flog every last watt out of it...)

So...Having pulled the back off the audison, i discovered large black scorch mark - about 4 inches in diameter.
Well....off it goes back to Melbourne.
Ill post again when i get more info - will be interesting to see what actually blew.
For now, DJ's Zeropoint is in...sounds realllly good. MMMMM, the difference between a nice amp and a NIIIICE amp.

Chris
STIK79
what area was the big scorch mark in? power supply or output?
-DJ-
output stage....
STIK79
nasty...

i'd be ready with the vaseline when the bill comes!
-DJ-
lol.... yeah i was afraid of that. chris, practice touching your toes mate...

we'll see. perhaps those kind people who sold it to him won't notice  :hehe:

SSSSHHHHHHHH!!!! don't tell anyone...

hate 2 break it 2 u but think phil from audison/hertz is on here for a read from time 2 time...

and ive had similar problems with my 1.400, but he fixed it 4 free and it was second hand!!!

the pricing of repare work from him is not usually too bad, have others on here been charged an arm and a leg in the past??

nathan
-DJ-
well... may be so. the amp was kaput before he removed 4 screws (or however many it was). most manufacturers/importers/resellers aren't anal enough to deny a warranty claim based on "looking". anyway, thats something that is between rm audio, chris and the store that sold the amp in the first place.

if i were to buy an amp (any amp), remove its back plate so i could mount it inverted behind perspex showing its guts and it f***ed out in normal use, i'd still expect warranty....

but meh, it'll all work itself out! smile.gif

I had the exact same problem with my old 2.500

Dont want to give specifics on here, please p.m me if you want some more information etc on what seems to me after some investigation to be a common Audison fault
