Looking at changing the front stage...

Im sort of hoping to get some tweeters 2nd hand - but if I had to buy new, prolly be between these 3 ...........

Dynaudio MD100 - $399
Morel MT23 - $259
Image Dynamics NX30 - $299

Any of u guys heard or recommend?
Ive heard the Dyns and I like them very much, but I would consider 1 of the other 2 if the performances are similar...as they are cheaper.

dyn audio md100, the sound is a bit mellow, good for classical and jazz, but not good for live music, can't comment on the other, never heard biggrin.gif

While I can't comment on the others you mentioned, I could say a thing or two about the Morel.

I used the MT23's predecessor, the MT22 and what I've found was the tweeter is somewhat laid back, but with a very good top end. There's no harshness at all, and from memory (which could be wrong) the tweeter stays reasonably flat from about 2 kHz to 16 and has a gradual roll off from there. It has an fs of around 950 Hz, and good dispertion characteristics. Off axis performance (under 30 degrees) is quite good, but beyond that it suffers a bit.

I can only assume that since the MT23 is the 22's replacement it should've performed better (frequency wise) with similar presentation characteristics.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Bon

i'll have the md100s... they've won competitions and they sound lovely.

remember, all dynaudio tweets start with the same base. that means your md100 has the capability to support esotar levels of performance.... sort of :hehe:

Both od them sound very good but what is better is depend on your test. OK Moerl is more laid back. it it vsry smooth. the purcussion produeced by morel will sound quite smoth and have coloration..

Dynaudio MD100 have a very good response as well but Dynaudio purcussion will more punchy and more full bodied. the Vocal produce by dynau will be more lively due to abit of coloretion. If you are going for CAASQ I will recomend dynau as purcussion punchiness is some sort of thing that the judge is looknig for which the 23 might need some EQ to make the same effect

as we discussed Darv, i would go the MD100's...

you loved the sound of my Dyn set and always wanted that sound and i think it will suit the music you listen to mate..
it might be a little more expensive than the other 2, but the price is well worth it.. especially when you were considering 2nd hand supremo..
Mr_Bob
there's very little difference between the MT22 and 23, both are what i'd describe as a "zippy" tweet, with plenty of detail.
i haven't heard good reports on the ID tweet, but the Dyn is pretty well known.

why not spend some more and get my supremo's? they'll leave all 3 of these for dead!

Darv, is it you who has the problem with hearing in the upper reaches of the frequency spectrum?

Mr_Bob.. Darv wants your supremo but his install location wont allow it to fit i dont think.. but i'll leave him to answer that one..

I keep hearing how Morel tweets are "laid back".

Having had both MT2s and MT22s, cannot agree.

Mr_Bob's comments are on the mark: zippy, fast, detailed, "alive", but smooth and laid back? Not the tweeters I've been listening to (and enjoying, mind you....) the last couple of years.

Morel tweeters = natural.
Probably the easiest way to describe them.

Dyn is also very nice.
Heck, of the three, I'm sure you'll be happy with any of them.
Take the plunge and start enjoying the music.

At least the 23 is more laid back than Revolutor. but every way else the revolutor is much better.

The Supremo I think is 4" in diameter...whereas my kicks have a hole thats around 3.5" so if I go Supremos I will need to redo my kicks, which is something I prefer not to do.

I am considering the MD100 because I've heard it and happy with how it would sound in my car. I would consider the MT23 as it's nearly $150 cheaper. So unless I can pick em up cheaper else where...chances are the MT23 is going to be the pick of the bunch.

the tweeters in the Eton a1 are pretty damn nice (best part of the set biggrin.gif ) but i think ndree the distributor is a bit hesitent in selling them...
