Ever wondered the benefits of running a "Specialist Audio Battery" against a normal, everyday battery ? For todays comparison we see the following go head to head:

Odyssey 1500 12V: Considered to be THE deep cycle cell. Capable of providing 1500 amps for 2 seconds before the battery drops to 10.2V, its deep cycle and built basically specifically for car audio applications. All the top guys oversea's use them.
RRP $480
950 CCA, 12.5V stable, 13.1V float

2x SuperCharge Gold MF 720: I've been using these babies a long long time now. They've powered everything from Earthquake to Kenwood to JBL to Caliber for me, and my love of them is a well known fact.
RRP $150 (Each. $300 for 2)
720 CCA, 12.7V stable, 13.1V float

Test System:
"Team JBL" Festiva Trio hatch
Alpine CDA-7949 Headunit
1x JBL Crown 2200 amp
1x JBL W15GTi subwoofer (DVC 6ohm, parallel for 3ohm) in 6.8 cubes tuned to 52hz

Test Equipment:
1x TermLAB USB Sensor

Seeings as how this system was already calibrated for SPL purposes, there was no need to set it up again . With 2x fresh SuperCharge batteries it pumped 146.2dB on TermLAB last weekend..
Being too lazy to bother starting the car, I ran them back to back. Cold batteries, no engine, no alternator.

2x SuperCharge Gold MF = 145.2dB
1x SuperCharge Gold MF = 145.2dB
1x Odyssey 1500 = 145.4dB

Make of it what you will, I merely do the tests and share the results.
