Ok i was just wondering what you guys thaught of the Soundstream Tarantula 12" subs and what is a good series Audiobahn sub? i have looked at the sound q and high excursion ones. This is for a sound quality setup and what other subs would you recomend? i have a budget of about $1000 for a single 12" that does not include the enclosure or install i will make that seperate as i will put alot of time into it.

wow... $1000 for a sub only? you must have spent like 7k on the rest of the system... i wonder if it's necessary to have a 1k sub in an sq system... if that is what ur aiming for.. is it?

Are you using the M500 to power it? That'll cull your choices rapidly - you'll need a 2 ohm svc or dual 4 ohm sub to get the most out of you amp, and it'll be giving you a max of 500 watts, which, while I consider it more than enough for an SQ setup, seems to be below what most $1K subs thirst for......
Can't help with AB or SS sub info, but there are plenty of other to consider, including subs of a lesser value. Or maybe something from Focal to brand-match your Focals? That Utopia sub certainly looks the goods!!! What does it retail for?

Bobby i swear i was gonna say the same thing about an hour ago regarding this post

.
The Van Gogh subs are built for SQ and the retail value is $599 if you pay more than that your getting ripped off. The Tarantula subs were more SPL oriented.
Marlin can you please stop bagging brands unless you have direct experience with them. I have used Audiobahn and there is nothing wrong with their products.

Why do people think that brands such as audiobahn, lanzar, Boss are any good and equivalent to decent gear such as SS ffs I'm not stupid enough to touch any of this crap go ask on an americian forum about it and see what sort of responses you get and yes those responses are valid as their is a crapload more of this crap over there.

how about you go do some reserch over then next 10 years and try out some products and get some valid knowlage of different brands and what they make then come back and be informed b4 you post.

well according to an pakistani forums they rock. And pakistan trumps usa
Honestly you read all you like on an american forum, don't mean crap. I mean I could sign up now with 15 accounts on sounddomain or whatever, and start posting lanzar rocks and replying that it rocks to myself in my ownthread . Now is that gospel? sheesh.
and highpingbastard? what the hell does VDO have to do with every thread?

I never said SS was on par with Audiobahn or Lanzar Marlin. As a matter of fact the only forums who bag Audiobahn and Lanzar are RF and PG forums becuase they are biased towards RF and PG therefore you cannot make a fair judgement on those products.
Now i know you would never use Audiobahn and Lanzar or whateva because some moron on a US forum told you they are crap. But please stop following the sheep trend and make your own judgements and conclusions. Audiobahn gets nothing but excellent reviews on unbiased forums from people who have actually USED the product.
You cannot put BOSS in the same league as Lanzar and Audiobahn, as a matter of fact Lanzar is not in the same league as Audiobahn either.
However this doesnt mean i am bagging the products i have used Audiobahn products and their AW1508T subs are awesome. 360oz magnet aluminium cones. Went almost as loud as my SS Da Vinci.

it doesn't, obviously...if you look I don't post VDO everywhere (although I confess that I like them quite a lot)...
What does it have to do with this thread? Well obviously because VDO are in the lower-end market and they are also susceptible to a lot of criticism from a lot of people on the same ground as stuff made by Audiobahn and Lanzar....if you look closely, the common feature of all of the criticsm is that it's all based on no experience and just based on misconceptions.....

Hey guys sorry i havn't read the post for a while. i have been quite sick and stuck in bed. Guys sorry i didn't mention what amp i was going to use. Must have slipped my mind. I have sold my mrd-M500 and going to buy a cadence amadeus M3000 which is 1 x 500wrms bridged at 4 ohms. i am only buying this amp to match my other cadence amadeus M4000 which i replaced my MRV-T420 with because i needed a 4 channel amp and not a 2 channel. This amp Drive my focals really nice and sounds good to me aswell ( if it didn't i wouldn't buy the M3000). so i will need a svc 4ohm or dvc 2ohm sub to run the sub off. i have gone in and listened to focal's 33WX utopia 13" sub and it sounded quite nice for being in a demo board. also had a listen to a cadence sub and alpine and pioneer and not to my surprise they didn't really sound as nice as the focal imo.
I am going to have to take a trip to brisbane to listen to some more subs before i make my decision.
Thanks for all the suggestions aswell you's mentioned some brands that i have had in mind. like IDmax, DD (no one mentioned yet but i will need more power for them) and dyns.
